Venue:

Organiser and Co Host: Kimmo Mattila, Secretary General, CIA

Further Info:

The Finnish TV Channel AlfaTV broadcast a live presentation of World Accordion Day on May 6th consisting of interviews, presentations, discussions and live performances. The history of the accordion is one of the main topics, because the 190th anniversary of the accordion is celebrated on the same day.

Several accordionists will play in the studio during the program, which will be hosted by famous TV presenter, Heidi Pakarinen and Kimmo Mattila (picture left). One of the special guests will be EU Parliament Member Merja Kyllönen, discussing international cultural aspects. The program is produced by the Finnish Accordion Association in cooperation with the CIA.

The TV program will be online after the live broadcast for at least 12 months to be seen in any country of the world. The program video link is:
http://www.permanto.fi/fi/web/alfatv/player/vod?assetId=14641936

CIA Secretary General Kimmo Mattila writes: "The program ”Kansan kesken” means ”With People” or ”The People Together”. It is broadcast every Monday live. In this week, it was devoted to the accordion. The program was a popular view to the accordion’s versatility and different aspects. Unfortunately all interviews are only in Finnish, but I think everybody can find a good and positive atmosphere of the people in the TV studio.

During two hours program there were also several questions from the TV public (by SMS or phone calls) and we tried to reply them live immediately. We presented the CIA and international activities, the history of the accordion (190th anniversary) and of course, future events nationally and internationally.

I hope that we can do this next year again - including international video clips from several countries."

A few days ago I registered a new website, for the World Accordion Day, "Fisarmonica - Abramo Ceccarelli e la sua musica" [Accordion - Abramo Ceccarelli and his music], sending this description.

Website address is: www.fisarmonicasolista.altervista.org

“The site aims to make known the artistic and human figure of Abramo Ceccarelli (my father), a very valid Italian accordionist and composer, whose musical activity has spanned almost the entire twentieth century. The site also aims to recover and spread the wide musical production of Abramo Ceccarelli, consisting of over 200 original compositions. It is written in three languages (Italian, English and French) and will be periodically updated.

Above is a screenshot of the header of the new website picturing Abramo Ceccarelli at the Festival TV dell'Adriatico (1961) performing with the orchestra of M° Galassini.

I would be pleased if you would publish the link to the site,
www.fisarmonicasolista.altervista.org
in order to make it known and accessible to the international community of the accordionists:

As planned, the site was inaugurated on the 6th May 2019 for World Accordion Day and I invite all accordionists to visit this new site."
