6:00 PM - To the Memory
of Mothers
|
The
first function at the Sata-Häme Soi - Accordion Festival was a
gathering at Lasse Pihlajamaa's (portrait right) statue "In the
Memory of Mother" which is a tribute to his mother in Jämijärvi,
one of the neighboring towns of Ikaalinen.
This
event featured local Folk Musicians and is a tradition prior to the
official beginning of the annual Ikaalinen Festival.
Immediately following the gathering at the statue, a standing room only
audience enjoyed a concert at the Jämijärvi School Hall also
featuring local Folk musicians.

10:00
PM - Joao Frade Trio, Portugal
|
Joao
Frade the 19 year old from Portugal and recent winner of the Confederation
Internationale des Accordeonistes (CIA) Coupe Mondiale Virtuoso Entertainment
World Championship category in Copenhagen, Denmark gave the official
warm-up concert to an enthusiastic and awed audience.
Joao completely charmed the packed Oma Tupa Hall with his stunning technical
ability, warm musicianship and smooth Jazz style in a show that attendees
said could not be described in words. It was a magical concert that
you had to have attended in order to appreciate the true atmosphere
and musical experience that he generated to the excited audience.
Lucky
for those that did not have the opportunity to attend, Joao will perform
again on the "20 Years of the Golden Accordion" Concert on
Friday evening in the Ikaalinen Hall.
In addition to his International competition success, Joao has toured
in many countries around the world including Europe and the USA and
has been a student of Jacques Mornet in France.
