The Accordion
Museum was filled to capacity for the historical concert featuring instruments
from the Ikaalinen Accordion Museum. Kimmo Mattila, Seppo Lankinen and Anne-Mari
Kanniainen demonstrated many of the beautiful antique accordions housed
among the 100 instruments on display. In addition to playing traditional
Finnish Folk Music from the period of the instruments, short histories were
given on the significance of the various instruments, many of which were
made in Finland.

Poeluev |
Winner of
the 2002 Coupe Mondiale, Russian accordionist Alexander Poeluev performed
an outstanding concert in Oma Tupa as an International guest artist
of the festival. A jury member of the Primus Ikaalinen, 26 year old
Poeluev now makes his home in Rostov, where he performs and teaches.
He studied with Viatcheslav Semionov at the Gnessin Institute in Moscow
and has appear in concert in many countries around the word including
the United States, New Zealand, Australia and all around Europe.
Performing both transcriptions and original works by his teacher Mr.
Semionov, Alexander demonstrated his world class artistry and techincal
ability during his concert.
His program was as follows:

The final big
accordion concert of the Festival took place at the Ikaalinen Hall before
a full house. The concert highlighted many of the guest artists from the
Festival including Alexander Shirunov, Anne-Mari Kanniainen, Trio Halogeeni,
the St. Petersburg Youth Accordion Orchestra, Valentin Osipov, Netta Skog
and more. The concert was hosted by Seppo Hovi.
