Members of the Confédération
Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) Executive Committee,
Music Committee, Delegates and Guests have gathered on Nagigia Island,
FIJI to conduct their 117th General Assembly of Delegates meetings.
Attendees from countries including
New Zealand, United Kingdom, Finland, United States, Germany, China
and France are meeting during this first ever Winter Congress gathering
in the Southern Hemisphere.
The event has been coordinated
by the CIA Public Relations Manager Harley Jones and it is being
held under the auspices of the New Zealand Accordion Association
(NZAA) the hosts of the 2009 Coupe Mondiale in Auckland, New Zealand.
Guests attending the Winter Congress Meeting have the opportunity
to experience the unique culture of the neighboring Village including
visits to the local schools and traditional Meke celebrations.
Also attending the event as guests are several CIA Contestants including
Benoit Chabod and Cyril Blanchard and two CIA Virtuoso Entertainment
Champions Phil Bouvier (2004) and Julien Gonzales (2006) who will
be performing several concerts while in Fiji.
Nagigia Island is the world headquarters of Accordions Worldwide
and Music for Accordion, proving today's technology can unite even
the remotest areas of the world.

After
members settled into their Island dwellings, they were given
a tour fo the facilities including the Accordions Worldwide
Office where the AWW team publishes the International News
as well as typesets music for Music For Accordion
|
|
|
|
|
To
conclude the arrival in Nagigia, guests were hosted at a dinner
with spokesperson Joeli of the NABUKELEVU-I-RA village.
Mr. Li Cong is pictured presenting Joeli with a gift from
China.
