Linda playing her fathers (Ben Emmett) hand made timpani, Joan playing her fathers bass accordion courtesy of the Dargaville Museum Accordion Gems collection. The Auckland premiere of renowned New Zealand composer Gary Daverne's organ and accordion adaptation of his work 'Song of the Far North'.
This was followed by a moving tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (1926 - 2022). The Journey composed by Gary Daverne was specially arranged by Kevin Friedrich for two accordions (Lionel Reekie 2nd accordion), organ, timpani and bass accordion. The slide show with the magnificent music made a strong impression and huge applause from the audience.
Lionel Reekie sang "You Will Never Walk Alone" by Rodgers and Hammerstein to very enthusiastic cheers and great applause from the audience.
The North Shore Accordion Orchestra formed a small orchestra for this event and a concert last weekend in Dargaville.
Players were: Grayson Masefield, Kevin Friedrich, Lian Jones, Harley Jones, Andre Samotoi, Maurice Jones, Amber Masefield, Heather Masefield, Christine Johnstone.
