A World of Accordions Museum (AWAM) will hold a Festival and Oktoberfest at the Harrington Arts Centre in Superior, Wisconsin, USA on October 28th, 2023. The event will include: • Saturday 9:00 am: The 2023 Combined NE Accordion Festival (NEAF) Orchestra rehearsal #1 • Saturday 12:00 pm: Quick run through of songs by Accordion and Concertina Music group • Saturday 1:00 pm: Quick run through of songs by Mill City Accordions. • Saturday 1:30 pm: The 2023 Combined NEAF Orchestra rehearsal #2 • Saturday 2:30 pm: Workshop #1 - Understanding free reed instrument repair • Saturday 3:30 pm: Workshop #2 - Historical presentation about diatonic instruments • Saturday 5:30 pm: Concert Program as follows - Accordion Concertina Music (Dee Langley, conductor); Mill City Accordions performing America the Beautiful, Breton Waltz, Kiev Waltz; Masked Accordions performing Can’t Help Falling in Love, Jessamee, Der Zug um 7:40 (The Train at 7:40); Helmi Harrington and Robert Dingman “Celebrating the German Tradition in Music”; Three Rivers Accordion Ensemble performing Waltz No. 2, (Shostacovich), Hoedown (Copland), Danse Macabre, (Saint-Saëns), Lakodalmi Tánc (Wedding Dance), (Hungary), Phantom of the Opera (Webber) and Hotel California (Henley, Felder & Frey); The 2023 Combined NEAF Orchestra conducted by Dee Langley performing Ombo (Palmer), Glocken der Heimat (Bells of Home – Avsenik), In the Hall of the Mountain King (Grieg) and Hallelujah (Cohen). The event finale will feature A Toast to AWAM & accordionists everywhere. |
