Group prizegiving picture The Deutsche Harmonika-Verband (DHV) welcomed around 250 participants to its final competition for the Accordion Music Prize from 31 May to 3 June 2018 in Bruchsal / Baden Württemberg. Participation was possible in the categories for accordion solo and duo, accordion ensemble and chamber music with at least one accordion in the cast, as well as for harmonica in different age groups up to maximum 27 years. The competition spanned 2 1/2 days and an attractive supporting program accompanied the event in the evenings. The gala concert on Friday evening was arranged by the 1st orchestra of the Harmonikaring Berghausen under the direction of Ralf Schwarzien and the young winning duo from Poland of the International Accordion Contest 2017: Aldo-Duo. On Saturday evening, followed by an open air concert with the Brazilian bandForró de KA with their own compositions and musical surprises. Also on Saturday there were accordion sounds in the entire city center of Bruchsal. Around 30 of the young participants had agreed to play music as street musicians on the different squares of the city center.The highlight of the event was on Sunday afternoon, the final concert and award ceremony in the Bürgerzentrum Bruchsal. There were several special prizes awarded for extraordinary musical achievements.
