Antique Accordion Display @ Auchtermuchty Festival, Scotland – UKby Stephen Chambers |
 A highlight of the Auchtermuchty Festival this year was a fabulous exhibition of 60 historic accordions, and related original catalogues, in the Victoria Hall on Saturday August 8th. Caroline Hunt (picture left) brought them along, from the 300 in her Antique Accordion Museum, Scotland, collection, to put them on display. There was a great deal of interest from both old and young, with lots of discussion, reminiscences and questions being asked, and various players, notably Harry Hussey, Bruce Lindsay, and Jock the Box, trying out some of the fine old instruments from Caroline's collection - and their music even inspired a spontaneous display of dancing! Some of these accordions were previously on display at Bogbain Farm, near Inverness, and Caroline would love to find a permanent home for them all, where they can be enjoyed like this all the time by people. |
