Plus de 500 accordéonistes et sympathisants de Chine et de Malaisie ont décollé de 28 villes différentes pour se rassembler dans la belle ville de Kuala Lumpur pour la Coupe d'Accordéon Hohner annuelle (organisée la plupart des années en Chine), un festival d'accordéon pour seniors et une série d'activités musicales pour célébrer le 50ème anniversaire. anniversaire de l'établissement des relations diplomatiques entre la Chine et la Malaisie. Les organisateurs du festival sont Ding Peng (membre du comité municipal de Pékin de la CCPPC, secrétaire général adjoint de l'Association chinoise de l'accordéon, chef d'orchestre de l'orchestre d'accordéon de l'université de Pékin) et Huang Da. Image à droite. Le succès et l'enthousiasme des participants ainsi que le vaste soutien touristique officiel en Malaisie ont été tels qu'un autre festival en Malaisie sera immédiatement planifié. Ce concert a eu lieu à l'Auenkirche Berlin-Wilmersdorf à Berlin, en Allemagne, le 14 avril 2024. Son programme comprenait des œuvres de Bach, Rameau, Schubert, Saint-Saëns, Liszt, Nørgård et Kosoric. Le concert de gala « Friedenstraum » aura lieu à la Philharmonie de Berlin, Chamber Music Hall le 24 mai 2024 à 18h avec des musiciens de Bosnie-Herzégovine, de Croatie, d'Allemagne, d'Israël, de Moldavie, de Russie, de Serbie, d'Espagne et d'Ukraine. Ils feront de la musique ensemble et enverront un message de paix au monde.  La 5ème Semaine de l'Accordéon et festival international de Kutná Hora se tiendra dans la ville historique de Kutná Hora, en République tchèque, du 20 au 25 août 2024, organisée par l'Association des Amis de l'Accordéon.L'association Les Amis de l'Accordéon a été fondée en 2019 par Michal Karban, Marie Cejnová et Markéta Laštovicková. Son objectif est d'enseigner et de promouvoir l'accordéon. Photo de gauche : Aliaksandr Yasinski L'ensemble de l'événement est caritatif et les bénéfices du droit d'entrée sont reversés à la Fondation de l'Institut Jedlicka. L'événement proposera des cours d'accordéon et des concerts, avec des leçons individuelles et des répétitions d'un orchestre d'accordéon unique. Les chargés de cours sont : Marie Cejnová, Michal Cejna Karban, Markéta Laštovicková, Jytte von Rüden et Ivana Laštovicková.   Un riche programme d'événements a été organisé pour célébrer la XVIe édition du Grand Tour des Musées d'Italie, qui aura lieu du 17 au 19 mai 2024. Les trois jours seront consacrés aux musées et à la culture de la région des Marches.Des événements seront organisés pour adultes et enfants, pour découvrir et redécouvrir les surprenants trésors de l'archéologie des Marches et de l'histoire la plus ancienne et la plus profonde de ce territoire. • 18 mai : Musée International de l'Accordéon – Horaires d'ouverture : 10h-13h – 16h-19h – 21h-23h – 17h : Instruments, compositeurs, musiques et interprètes : une mémoire historique au musée. Lectures, réflexions et performances des étudiants de l'École Civique de Musique "P. Soprani", organisées par Alessandro Mugnoz avec Elena Merli, Michele Alessandrini (accordéon) – musique de Scarlatti, Gart, Volpi et Piazzolla. | Le 14ème Festival international de musique Harmonika Fest se tiendra à Tivat, au Monténégro, du 24 au 26 mai 2024, organisé par l'ONG « Harmonika Montenegrina » de Podgorica. Leur objectif est de promouvoir la musique classique à l'accordéon et la grande signification culturelle, éducative et psychosociale des festivals de musique. L'événement comprendra un concert de musique classique donné par des étudiants des écoles de musique du Monténégro et un concours avec des catégories pour solistes, orchestres, musique de chambre et musique de variétés. Une partie importante du festival est constituée d'une variété d'ateliers animés par des conférenciers qui sont d'éminents professeurs de prestigieuses académies de musique. | On May 11th, 2024, well-known Finnish accordionist Jukka-Pekka Kuusela (former student of Friedrich Lips) played a concert with Kalle Välimaa (organ - former student of V. Muntyan and Friedrich Lips) in the Sotkamo Chappell in Sotkamo, Kainuu, Finland. Their program was based on Das Orgelbüchlein by J.S. Bach. The lovely spring evening saw many local people and tourists enjoying the holy music by J.S. Bach. During his visit in Kainuu region, Kalle Välimaa also coached young local accordionists in ensemble playing directing among others the world premiere of his own large scaled work SäkkiS for 2 soloists, 8 accordionists and tape. |

  Video: 2024 Qathet highlights.The 2024, 3rd annual Qathet Accordion Fest, held at Powell River, British Columbia, Canada was an outstanding success. The event, directed by Walter Martella and Karina Inkster was held on May 10th and 11th, 2024 and included a variety of “performances, learning, jamming with new friends and catching up with old ones, and associated accordionic antics.” Performing artists (pictured below) were Walter Martella, Stephen Nikleva (guitar), Kosta Ruslanov (accordion), Henry Slama (accordion), Budge Schachte (guitar), Boyd Norman (bass), Terry Martyniuk (percussion) and Melanie Hackett. Jelena Milojevic (picture above right) led a popular masterclass for accordionists of all levels. |

 Inês Vaz (Portugal) has just released her second album entitled “Petala” (English: petal).“In this album, Inês Vaz maintains the centrality of the accordion, but adds poetry and voice to it, through the participation of guests Jacqueline Fernandez, José Rodrigues Cardoso and Natália Luíza in a coating of poetic petals that dictate an organic narrative and adds color, definition and intensity to the narrative. Poems by Francisca Aguirre, José Rodrigues Cardoso and Maria Teresa Horta are interspersed with pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Brad Mehldau, Inês Vaz, Maurice Ravel, Modest Mussorgsky, Vladislav Zolotaryov, and, weaving the common thread of a record that tells a story, note after note, word after word.” "In this album, Inês Vaz suggests a narrative and reflective journey around the lightness, tenderness and metaphorical symbolism of a petal."  Milos Milivojevic (picture left) will perform in an opera based on the novel “Woman at Point Zero” by Nawal El Saadawi, held at the Jugendstiltheater in Vienna, Austria on May 22nd and 23rd at 8pm.The opera music was composed Bushra El-Turk. The opera musical director is Kanako Abe. The opera “tells the story of two women who meet in prison: Fatma, a women’s rights activist who was sentenced for murder and Sama, a young, ambitious documentary film maker who wants to tell Fatma’s story.” “They share memories, experiences, deepest secrets. What does it mean to be free? Is it possible to have greater freedom in prison than outside?” The opera won the Fedora Prize for Opera Innovation in 2020 and the Music Theatre Now Competition in 2023. |

 The 53rd annual 2024 Northwest Folklife Festival will be held at the Seattle Center in Seattle, Washington, USA from May 24th to 27th, 2024.The event is a “community-powered celebration of the music, arts, and heritage of the Pacific Northwest, with over 4,000 performers on 20+ stages, 200 food/craft/import vendors, and 500 volunteers, the festival remains one of the largest access-for-all festivals in the nation since 1972”.  La dynamique scène musicale de Kansas City est sur le point d'occuper le devant de la scène d'une toute nouvelle manière alors qu'elle accueille la Guilde internationale des accordéonistes et des enseignants (Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International - ATG) pour son festival annuel du 23 au 27 juillet 2024.S'étalant sur cinq jours de festivités, le Festival ATG mettra en valeur l'incroyable polyvalence et le talent artistique de l'accordéon, attirant des participants et des interprètes non seulement des États-Unis et du Canada, mais du monde entier. Le public peut s'attendre à avoir droit à une gamme époustouflante de performances qui redéfiniront leur perception de l'accordéon. Les concerts en soirée débuteront le mercredi 24 juillet avec la première d'une nouvelle composition qu'il a écrite pour Joan Cochran Sommers par Stas Venglevski, suivi par le duo autrichien Das Kollektive (flûte et accordéon). Jeudi soir, il y aura l'Ensemble d'Accordéon UMKC dirigé par Joan Sommers, Mirco Patarini (Italie) (Président de la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes CIA) et Nikolay Bine, accordéoniste de jazz du Canada. Le vendredi soir sera une soirée Tango et Fusion. Bridge and Wolak (Dr Michael Bridge à l'accordéon et Kornel Wolak à la clarinette) débutera par un concert de musique classique, jazz et musique du monde fusionnant divers genres musicaux pour créer un concert vivifiant plein de beauté, de virtuosité et d'humour. Ensuite, Grayson Masefield (Nouvelle-Zélande) sera rejoint par un groupe d'éminents musiciens de Kansas City, « Ensemble Iberica », pour présenter un programme entièrement tango. Le Festival se terminera samedi soir avec un concert interprété par Gorka Hermosa (Espagne), suivi par l'ATG Festival Orchestra, dirigé par Joan Cochran Sommers. Entre autres œuvres, l'orchestre créera deux nouvelles œuvres commandées par l'ATG. Le premier est composé par Gorka Hermosa et s'intitule OPAROA, qui signifie en basque « Vraiment plein » (en référence à la « vie vraiment bien remplie » qu'a eue le professeur Joan C. Sommers, qui a tant donné au monde de l'accordéon en Amérique). La deuxième pièce commandée est ETERNAL composée par Ian Watson (Royaume-Uni en l’honneur du 90e anniversaire de Joan C. Sommers.  Now published is the expanded article from the Past Annual Series of Articles for the AAA Festival Journal:2015: Four of the Five Commissioned Works for the Intermediate Level Student Solos by David Diamond, William Grant Still, Carlos Surinach, & José Serebrier. View the expanded article at: http://www.ameraccord.com/aaacommissions21.php This article continues the progress in expanding the annual articles I wrote between 1997 and 2019 on the AAA commissioned “classical” repertoire of the late twentieth century. The AAA Composers Commissioning Committee founder and first Chair, Elsie Bennett, decided during the mid-to-late 1960s to re-commission four previously AAA engaged composers, namely Paul Creston, David Diamond, William Grant Still, and Carlos Surinach, as well as a first-time contributor, José Serebrier, to supply solo works at the intermediate rather than the normally assumed advanced/professional level. The results were Creston’s Embryo Suite, (released in web format in January 2024), Diamond’s Sonatina, Still’s Lilt, Surinach’s Prelude to the Sea, and Serebrier’s Danza Ritual. Elsie’s stated purpose for this project was to expose promising young students who through hard and earnest work had achieved a solid intermediate level of performance, usually via their other more traditional tonal repertoire (which was often accordion transcriptions of other instruments’ works), to the “New Music” of their own time. This gateway into original “classical” and idiomatically conceived music for the accordion was and continues to be vitally important since the accordion’s late invention during the previous three-century “Common Practice” era and slow technological evolution in the nineteenth century delayed the creation of its own classical repertoire well into the twentieth century.
