Weaver Valley Accordion Band logo
The Weaver Valley Accordion Band (MD Ken Farran) celebrated their 30th anniversary with a memorable concert on November 10th at Frodsham Community Centre, Frodsham, Cheshire.

The band opened in lively style with Sousa’s ‘Liberty Bell’, and followed with ‘Love is the sweetest thing’/Over the rainbow’, ‘Leonora’, ‘Fiddler on the roof’, ‘Perhaps’/’Sway’, ‘Voi Che Sapate’ (Mozart), ‘Cuckoo Waltz’/’Schneewaltzer’, ‘April in Portugal’/‘Spanish Eyes’, ‘Samorim’, ‘Blaze Away’, ‘Wien Bleibt Wien’, ‘O Sole Mio’/‘La Cumparsita’, ‘Lawrence of Arabia’, ‘Arnbacher March’, ‘La Paloma’, ‘New York, New York’, ‘Waltz No 2’ (Shostakovich), ‘Venetian Masquerade’, and ‘Radestzky March (J. Strauss Sr). The program was varied, well played, and drew two encores.

There were excellent spots from band members Jean Finney, singing and playing (guitar), her own compositions, Mike Turner performing three George Formby songs on his banjolele, and the accordion duo Ken and Wendy Farran.

Founded in 1982 by accordion teacher and NAO Vice President Ken Farran, the Weaver Valley Accordion Band have performed at many concerts, special events and competitions, and has performed in Germany and the Netherlands.
