“Weird Al” Yankovic New App - USAby Harley Jones |
"Weird Al" Yankovic the three-time Grammy Award-winner and accordion aficionado has been making us laugh since the 1980s — but the singer-songwriter-accordionist-actor can now add ‘author’ to his resume with ‘When I Grow Up’, a children's book that was released in February. ‘When I Grow Up’ — the app, just released — takes the book and adds some extra fun and interactivity. Yankovic said "It's one of the more dynamic and interactive books apps available, because not only could you read the book or have it read to you — and by me — but there is so much to do, play and explore — such as massaging a gorilla, racing snails, rolling crayons or touching Mrs. Krupp so bugs will fly out of her hair," Yankovic adds with a laugh. Yankovic is probably the world’s most internet savvy accordionist with more than 2 million followers on Twitter. "Many of my songs are tech- and Internet-related," he adds. His latest album, Alpocalypse, made its debut in the Billboard Top 10, and the lead video from that album, Perform This Way — a parody of Lady Gaga's Born This Way — was viewed on the Internet more than 6 million times in its first week. |
