 Video above: 2016 winner Mohsen Amini.The BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2017 Finalists have been announced. These are Charlie Stewart - fiddle (Perthshire), Dougie McCance - bagpipes (Glasgow), Ella Munro - Scots song (Skye), Grant McFarlane - accordion (Paisley), Iona Fyfe - Scots song, (Huntly), and Kim Carnie - Gaelic song (Oban). Thirteen musicians arrived in Coulter, South Lanarkshire, on October 8th to compete to get to the final of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award. They all performed for 10 minutes each with accompanists Mhairi Hall (piano) and Michael Bryan (guitar). There were two accordionists involved, Grant McFarlane and Craig Paton. It was an amazing concert and all the musicians performed brilliantly. The judges (David Francis, Stuart Cassells, Rona Wilkie, Scott Gardiner, Maeve Mackinnon and Iain MacInnes) chose 6 musicians to go through to the finals.
