| Friedrich Lips “Piazzolla Studio” performed two April concerts dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Argentine bandoneonist and composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992). The first was on April 23rd in Berdsk and the second on April 24th in the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Chamber Hall as part of the Vadim Repin Trans-Siberian Art Festival held annually in the city of Novosibirsk, Russia. The “Piazzolla Studio” ensemble consists of Friedrich Lips (bayan), Svyatoslav Lips (piano), Vladislav Igolinsky (violin) and Kirill Rodin (cello). In the early 1990s Friedrich Lips, People's Artist of Russia and chief of the bayan/accordion department at the Russian Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow (founder and artistic director of “Piazzolla Studio”), was the first to introduce the Russian public to the music of Piazzolla.
