Aleksandar Kolovski Awarded Young Music Artist Prize – Macedoniaby Rob Howard |

| Macedonian accordionist Aleksandar Kolovski, winner of several international competitions, has won the prize ‘Virtuoso’ in the category ‘Young Music Artist’ at a ceremony last week before a capacity audience at the Macedonian National Theatre (picture above). There are a total of nine awards titled ‘Virtuoso’ for classical music, and these are the various categories for acknowledged successes of Macedonian artists and music institutions over the past year. The ‘Virtuoso’ was established last year, on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture, SOKOM-Association of Macedonian composers, Macedonian Philharmonic, and the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. Aleksandar Kolovski has also received the award ‘Person of the Year’ for 2013 from the newspaper ‘Nova Makedonija’. (Picture below). Ten of the most prominent individuals in Macedonia in the year 2013, according to the selection of the editorial office of the ‘Nova Makedonija’, received the award ‘Person of the year’, established in 2012, that is sponsored by the oldest newspaper in the country. The award-recognition and the statuette in form of a peafowl has been awarded to them because they marked the year 2013 in different areas of public life and contributed for the affirmation of the Republic of Macedonia.
