Accordion Festival “grenzenlos” and 2nd International Open Accordion Contest in Trossingen (Germany)

2nd IOAC Category 5 presentations
Akkordeon grenzenlos2nd International Open Accordion ContestThis year once again the Accordion Festival "grenzenlos" took place in Trossingen together with the 2nd International Open Accordion Contest (IOAC). The organization of this festival is conducted by the Hohner Conservatory and the competition was organized in cooperation with the DHV and the EAF. Rules and Regulations: 2018IOAC.pdf

It is precisely this mixture of workshop, concerts and competition that makes this festival so attractive to all accordion enthusiasts, whether as a participant or as a listener and spectator.

The competition registered 63 participants. This year, especially the younger groups (up to 15 years / up to 12 years) were very well represented. One of the highlights in the competition program is the "band battle", in which bands that have at least one accordion in their group, present music from various genres, sometimes including their own compositions or own arrangements.

The workshops of the festival cover a wide musical spectrum and are suitable platforms for participants to exchange ideas with like-minded people and to gain new experiences from the professional world. Some topics are exemplary: chamber music, 2beat or not 2beat - rhythm & groove, "Jazz you can" for beginners ....

The concerts of the festival were very high quality and also give viewers a very good insight into the current development in the relevant sector of accordion music. Also well attended were the concert evenings of the festival.
