Judith Williams at the C.C.A. DVD, Glasgow – UK

Harry Hussey‘Judith Williams at the C.C.A.’ is a full length concert (148 minutes) by Scottish jazz singer Judith Williams recently released on DVD. Judith has a pleasant and engaging voice, and works her way through some of what is often called ‘The Great American Songbook’, accompanied throughout by the amazing Harry Hussey on accordion, the mellow clarinet sound of Dick Lee, and the subtle guitar of Paul Tracey and smooth double bass of Cameron Maxwell.

Harry, Dick and Paul add in classy solo riffs here and there to enhance the songs. The style is that of ‘late night jazz’, and there is a large and young audience lapping it all up at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow.

The concert, filmed in black & white probably to give the show a retro 1940s look, was the first night of the Glasgow Jazz Festival, recorded on July 28th 2012. If ‘late night jazz’ is your thing, you will surely enjoy this collaboration.

Tracks: Secret Love, East of the Sun, Moon River, You’ve changed, The shadow of your Smile, All of me, The man I love, Blue Skies, Quiet night of quiet stars, Bewitched, bothered and bewildered, My funny valentine, But beautiful, Close your eyes, All the things you are, The more I see you, After you’ve gone, I thought about you, My foolish heart, Time after time, Stardust
