‘Accordions International 2013’, an annual festival, takes place from October 7th to 11th at Mundeseley Holiday Village, Paston Rd, Norfolk NR11 8BT. The organiser is Heather Smith. The guests include Cristiano Lui & Stephano Ciatola (Italy), Pearl Fawcett-Adriano, Giancarlo Caporilli (Italy), Dick Lee & David Vernon (picture below), Gennaro Ruffolo (Italy), Harry Hussey, David Price, Alan Young, Rosemary Wright, Bert Santilly, and The East Coast Four. The workshops include: Elementary Orchestra (MD Rosemary Wright), Intermediate Orchestra (Brian Jenkins), Swing Band (Geoff Cook), Jazz Group (Bert Santilly), Buskers Band (Bert Santilly), Scottish Band (David Vernon), and Vintage Band (Jean Hanger). Activities include daytime and evening concerts, band workshops, Scottish dancing, and a trade show that includes The Accordion Shop, Birmingham Accordion Centre, MAP Editions, and Robaccord Publications – includes the book launch of ‘Accordion: A Pictorial History’, by Rob Howard. Pearl Fawcett-Adriano will present a special feature on the music of MAP Publications. There is also a swimming pool available. This festival, which began in 1986 at nearby Caister, was described by the original organizer, the late Malcolm Gee as “…a total indulgence in accordions”. The cost: £199 per person full board, which represents great value.
