From a total of 40 entrants, 36 competitors took to the stage for the Coupe Mondiale category. This category is in three rounds. Round 1 requires a Baroque work plus an own choice program of 2 pieces.

Eighteen contestants qualified for Round 2 of the category which requires “one complete original work for the accordion.”

For Round 3 on Thursday morning, is the “Own Choice program consisting of three (3) or more pieces of different style and character. Playing time: minimum 20 minutes to maximum 30 minutes.” There were 7players qualified for Round 3 and the event featured a very high standard of performance.

Interesting the top five contestants were very close, with only a 23.01 to 23.56 mark range from 1st to 5th.

2. Xu, Xiaonan (China) 23.45 average mark

Another interesting factor about the results of the 7 competition categories was the successes of Serbian contestants and the successes of Chinese contestants achieving a 2nd or 3rd placing in 6 out of 7 categories. Quite a remarkable achievement and showing just how strong Chinese contestants have become in all categories.
