Picture above: 1st Nenad Ivanovic (Serbia), 2nd Xiaonan Xu (China) From a total of 40 entrants, 36 competitors took to the stage for the Coupe Mondiale category. This category is in three rounds. Round 1 requires a Baroque work plus an own choice program of 2 pieces. Eighteen contestants qualified for Round 2 of the category which requires “one complete original work for the accordion.” For Round 3 on Thursday morning, is the “Own Choice program consisting of three (3) or more pieces of different style and character. Playing time: minimum 20 minutes to maximum 30 minutes.” There were 7players qualified for Round 3 and the event featured a very high standard of performance. Interesting the top five contestants were very close, with only a 23.01 to 23.56 mark range from 1st to 5th. 1. Ivanovic, Nenad (Serbia) 23.56 average mark 2. Tanaskovic, Nikola (Serbia) 23.01 average mark Full results are online at: 2011CoupeResults Another interesting factor about the results of the 7 competition categories was the successes of Serbian contestants and the successes of Chinese contestants achieving a 2nd or 3rd placing in 6 out of 7 categories. Quite a remarkable achievement and showing just how strong Chinese contestants have become in all categories. Junior Coupe Mondiale winner: Radisavljevic, Predrag (Serbia) Pietro Adragna (picture right, Italy) was a winner of two categories, the International Competition for Virtuoso Entertainment Music and the International Competition for Digital Accordion.
