Mingyuan Ruan Performs for "Royal Academy of Music 200 Pieces Project" – Englandby Christine Johnstone |
Royal Academy of Music in London, England student, Mingyuan Ruan (picture left), performed “29 Rue d'Astorg” by composer Cheryl Frances Hoad last month. See video above. The piece is one of the academy’s “200 Pieces Project” which sees new works written and performed to mark 200 years since the Academy’s foundation in 1822. For the last few months they have been bringing some of their 200 Pieces online as virtual performances. Once premiered, each of the pieces commissioned for the project will be recorded by the Academy’s audio visual department and put onto the new website which was launched in July. Alongside the 200 pieces, the Academy’s Learning and Participation programme "Open Academy", will engage in work with secondary school students to support them in creating 200 of their own compositions. These will also be performed, with a selection recorded. |
