‘Puttin' on the Beatles style’, St Petersburg – Russiaby Rob Howard |
 ‘Puttin' on the Beatles style’ is a quartet from St Petersburg that specializes in playing their arrangements of Beatles music. The quartet is recording a CD, and given shows in many club and concert platforms, including performances in The Cavern at the annual Beatles Festival, Liverpool, in August 2006 and 2007. The members are Oksana Short – accordion, Sergei Chipurnov – Roland V Accordion, Nail Kadyrov – bass, and Yuri Nikolaev – drumsThe group’s name refers to a little known recording, with vocals by John Lennon, of the Lonnie Donegan song ‘Puttin On The Style’. Some people incorrectly believe the name is in homage to Russian President Vladimir Putin!
