 Ensemble Black Pencil, featuring Austrian accordionist Marko Kassl, have just released ‘Buffoni!’, a new CD on the ClassicClips label. The recording draws its inspiration from the characteristics of the ‘Commedia dell'arte’ and the versatility of the Commedia's actors, the Buffoni! The original works by Roderik de Man, Chiel Meijering, Nico Huijbregts, Guus Janssen and Enric Monfort are influenced by the different characters of the Commedia - the farcical Scaramouche, the thoughtful Columbine or the clumsy Zanni. The original works are connected through interludes, short improvisations and the ensemble's own adventerous arrangements of masterpieces of the past, that were in turn inspired by the Commedia dell'arte: Georg Philipp Telemann, Giovanni Giacomo Gastoldi, Domenico Gallo, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and Wilhelm Unico van Wassenaer.
