il 3° Concorso e Festival Internazionale della fisarmonica "AccoHoliday".
Questo evento è organizzato da Yan Tabachnik (foto a sinistra),
Presidente della 'Major League Masters of World Accordion' ritratto
qui con Tania
Lukic-Marx, Presidente di AATA,
che ne è membro.
Il
concorso si articola in due categorie con le seguenti caratteristiche
musicali:
Categoria ? - Classico
Prima prova (fino a 20 minuti)
1. Un'opera polifonica per organo o strumento da tasto (inclusa una
fuga ad almeno tre voci)
2. Un brano composto prima del 1800.
3. Un brano da concerto a carattere 'virtuoso'.
Seconda prova (fino a 30 minuti)
Programma a scelta che includa una composizione ciclica originale
per fisarmonica (tutti i movimenti).
Categoria B - Entertainment
Prima prova (fino a 20 minuti)
Programma libero composto da brani di stile folk, popolare e jazz.
Seconda prova (fino a 20 minuti)
Programma libero composto da brani di stile folk, popolare e jazz..
In entrambe le categorie non è consentito eseguire uno stesso
brano nella prima e nella seconda prova.
Non ci sono tasse di iscrizione. L'alloggio per i partecipanti è
offerto dall'organizzazione.
Un

Il Dr. Schimmel ha appena terminato la produzione di 'Juno', un musical-opera
di Marc Blitzstein al City Center di New York come parte della serie
Encore. Tutto è stato fatto in un formato semi-concertistico.
L'esordio di Juno fu nel 1959 a Broadway e restò in cartellone
per un tempo relativamente breve. Forse per l'eclettica scrittura
di Blitzstein's, che era troppo avveniristica per quel tempo. O forse
per il soggetto, che tratta dell'indipendenza dell'Irlanda, che era
un tema troppo controverso, o, ancor più, per il tragico epilogo,
che ne fa un musical senza lieto fine. Oggi questa nuova versione
è stata recepita in maniera ottima, importante per il ruolo
preminente che ha la fisarmonica.
Festival della Fisarmonica Viennese, Vienna - Austria
Il
Festival della Fisarmonca Viennese 2008 ha portato a Vienna 220 artisti
provenienti da 30 diversi Paesi.
Partito
da dimensioni modeste, questo evento ha continuato ogni anno a crescere
fino ad essere oggi uno dei maggiori appuntamenti annuali della fisarmonica,
ed ha offerto una incredibile varietà musicale dal 23 Febbraio
al 24 Marzo.
Hanno partecipato stelle come l'taliano Riccardo Tesi (fisarmonica
diatonica) e il bandoneonista uruguagio Luis di Matteo.
Il
"Pomeriggio Magico" nei cinque Sabato al Teatro dell'Infanzia
'Dschungl' ha dato a bambini ed adolescenti l'opportunità di
conoscere lo strumento.
Il
film muto "Matinee" con colonna sonora di fisarmonica al
Filmcasino ed il salone della letteratura al Stadttheater Walfischgasse
sono stati ulteriori punti chiave di questo festival così vario,
chiuso da tre serate di gala con concerti di Dobrek Bistro (Austria),
Nathan & The Zydeco Cha Chas (USA), Alessandro Kramer Trio (Brasile)
e Danças Ocultas (Portogallo).

STRUMENTI&MUSICA SPRING FESTIVAL A SPOLETO

Nella
suggestiva città umbra si incontrano i migliori fisarmonicisti
italiani ed europei di Davide Fabrizi
Si incontreranno a Spoleto in una tre giorni densa di eventi e concerti,
i migliori fisarmonicisti italiani che rappresenteranno l'Italia al
prossimo trofeo mondiale. Strumenti&Musica Spring Festival, in
programma dal 22 al 25 maggio, porterà nel cuore verde dell'Umbria
quanto di meglio il panorama fisarmonicistico italiano attualmente
offre. Promossa dall'Italian Accordion Culture (IAC), in collaborazione
con Edizioni Musicali e Discografiche ARS SPOLETIUM e la rivista Strumenti&Musica,
per la direzione artistica di Mirco
Patarini, campione del mondo e concertista di fama mondiale, la
manifestazione si configura come un evento di grande spessore non
solo per le selezioni nazionali, che ne rappresentano il cuore pulsante,
ma anche per i concerti in programma che si terranno nella splendida
cornice del Teatro Nuovo di Spoleto.
Il sipario si alzerà giovedì 22 alla Sala Pegasus, primo
giorno delle selezioni (in programma anche il 23 e il 24 maggio dalle
10 del mattino fino alle 18) con una non stop di 9 ore (una breve
interruzione per il pranzo sarà d'obbligo) che terminerà
con l'incontro seminariale del fisarmonicista jazz Renzo
Ruggieri. La sera, alle 21, prenderanno il via al Teatro Nuovo
i grandi concerti dello Spring Festival: protagonista assoluto della
serata d'apertura sarà Mirco
Patarini, accompagnato da un'orchestra d'archi.
Spoleto sarà poi teatro di due concerti del pluripremiato fisarmonicista
russo Alexander
'Sasha' Selivanov, vincitore della Coupe
Mondiale nel 2004, che si esibirà il 23 maggio alla Sala
Pegasus e il 24 nel seicentesco Palazzo Leti Sansi con un evento dedicato
alla memoria di due grandissimi autori russi, Anatolj Kusyakov e Vladislav
Solotarjov.
La giornata finale regalerà le luci della ribalta ai fisarmonicisti
che parteciperanno al prossimo Trofeo Mondiale che si terrà
a Glasgow, in Scozia. Il palcoscenico sarà quello del Teatro
Nuovo dove, a partire dalle ore 17, tutti i vincitori delle selezioni
italiane si esibiranno in un concerto che, ovviamente, si presenta
fin d'ora come una prima nazionale assoluta. Sarà sempre il
Teatro Nuovo di Spoleto ad ospitare la serata finale dello Spring
Festival con la prima tappa italiana dei BELTANGO
QUINTET. Aleksandar Nikolic (bandoneon), Jovan Bogosavljevic (violino),
Ivana Nikolic (voce e pianoforte), Bogdan Pejic (chitarra elettrica)
e Ljubinko Lazic (contrabbasso) renderanno omaggio al tango argentino
e al suo grande maestro Astor Piazzolla. Ospiti d'eccezione due danzatori
di fama internazionale.
Da tenere bene a mente, nel fitto cartellone di eventi dello Strumenti&Musica
Spring Festival, il fil rouge che, per una sera, legherà la
musica internazionale con le tipicità enogastronomiche del
territorio spoletino. Il 24 maggio, in occasione del secondo concerto
di Selivanov, è in programma l'unica serata di Gala della manifestazione,
in una delle location più suggestive della città ducale:
Palazzo Leti Sansi. Un aperitivo degustazione d'altri tempi, offerto
dai produttori di SPOLETOTIPICA, allieterà il palato degli
invitati. Da non perdere!!!
On
March 21st well-known musician Aidar Gainullin performed with the
Symphonic Orchestra of Cinematographies of Russia during the 21st
awards ceremony of the national film-prize 'NIKA' (Russian 'Oscar').
Aidar Gainullin was conferred the distinction of an 'Academician of
Cinema Arts'.
From March 22nd to 29th Aidar Gainullin adjudicated at the international
competition of young artistes in Moscow for the first time. The adjudicators'
panel included such musicians as Friedrich
Lips, Alexander
Dmitriev, Andrey Ledenev, Vladimir Murza, Sergei Osokin (Russia),
Christiane Bonnay (Monaco) and Grzegorz Stopa (Poland).
Last weekend, from March 28th to 30th, UNAC-Unión de Acordeonistas
(www.unac.es) of Spain, organised the First Accordion Meeting in Navas
de Riofrio, Segovia, coordinated by Raquel
Ruiz.
Many
accordionists from all over Spain attended this meeting. From Pamplona,
Madrid, Segovia, San Sebastian, Cuenca, Huesca, Zaragoza, Murcia,
Albacete, etc.
The program during the weekend included activities such as a Classical
Accordion Concert (works by Aho, Lindberg, Camarero, Buxtehude, Rueda,
Schmidt and Gubaidulina), and a Chamber Music workshop, conducted
by Victor Fernandez. In this workshop the participants made the first
world recording of Cesar Camarero´s 'Cantus' for 12 accordions,
and the group also worked on Steve Reich´s works.
The
meeting included very interesting lectures by David del Puerto (National
Prize of composition 2005) - 'Minimal music, Steve Reich and other
tendencies', Carlos Claveria (sound engineer) -'Recording technical
matters for musicians', Cesar Camarero (National Prize of music 2006)
- 'The accordion in my music'.

Goikoetxea attended this meeting, where all participants shared
an incredible weekend full of musical and personal experiences.
Castletown
Accordion Orchestra, from the Republic of Ireland, once again travelled
to the European Accordion Festival held in Prague from March 20th
to 23rd. They entered 2 sections, the Junior (which they won in 2006)
and the Light Music Section. They were placed 2nd out of 9 in the
Junior, and in the Light Music Section, they were placed 5th out of
9. This was the first time they had entered this section. The orchestras
placed above them were of a very high standard and the majority of
them also competed in the Adult Classical section.
Whilst in Prague, they were invited to play at the Irish Embassy.
This was an immense honour for the Orchestra. The College of Music
in Prague, the American Embassy and the Luxembourg Embassy were all
within earshot and enjoyed the performance immensely. They also played
at the opening concert in Liben Castle and the gala concert, held
in the beautiful surroundings of the church of St. Simon and Judas,
home of the Prague Symphony Orchestra. They also played in the church
of St. Salvator. After the festival finished, the orchestra travelled
down to Southern Bohemia, to the beautiful city of Krumlov, where
they played in the local convent, which has been converted into a
beautiful 5 star hotel.
Helsinki
based accordionist Mika
Väyrynen will give a series of Master Classes at the Fontys
Conservatory in Tilburg, Netherlands on April 3rd and 4th. A teacher
at the famed Sibelius Academy of Music in Helsinki, Mika has taught
Master Classes in many countries, in addition to his vast concert
activities which see him performing worldwide both as a soloist and
with Symphony Orchestra.
On April 11th, Mika
will perform 'Prophecy' Concerto for accordion and Symphony Orchestra,
by Erkki-Sven Tüür, when he appears with the Orchestra de
Bretagne in France under the direction of Olari Elts. Immediately
following the performance, Mika will be recording this outstanding
new work, which he gave the world premiere of last October with the
Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, also under the direction of Olari Elts.

Accordionists Colin Milner and Harry Kipling are starting a new accordion
club, known as the North Yorks Accordion Club, at Bradley's Coffee
Shop & Wine Bar, 13 High St, Market Weighton, York, North Yorkshire
YO43 3AQ. The first meeting takes place on Wednesday April 9th, at
7.30pm, and all accordionists, friends & enthusiasts are very
welcome! Refreshments and car parking are available.
The All Ireland Accordion Festival, organised by the Irish Accordion
Association, takes place in the Venue Theatre, Ratoath, County Meath,
on April 12th and 13th. The festival includes solo, duet, ensemble
and orchestral sections, and is organised by Yvonne and John Chilton.
The adjudicator is Ian Watson, from London.
Accordionists
Ksenia Sidorova and Milos Milivojevic with the Brooks Quartet, conducted
by Christopher Austin, are in concert on Friday April 11th, 6pm, in
the Duke's Hall at the Royal Academy of Music, London.
This concert focuses on the exquisite music of Danish composer Hans
Abrahamsen. His music for accordion, string quartet and solo piano
will be performed alongside the evocative 'Winternacht' for mixed
ensemble.

The program includes 'Air', 'Three Little Nocturnes', Six movements
from 'Ten Studies for Piano', and 'Winternacht'.
The
colourful French band Roger Morand & Bandzydeco, whose repertoire
includes Cajun, Zydeco, Blues, Rock and Créole, appear as follows:
