2007 Australian International Accordion Championships and Festival, Sydney – Australia
Contributed by AATA President: Tania Lukic-Marx (picture below)

The Australian Accordion Teachers Association Inc is proud to announce a new venue for its 2007 Australian International Accordion Championships and Festival. The entire event will be held at the prestigious ‘Club Marconi’, one of Sydney’s biggest and most luxurious club and concert complexes.

For 2007, the Australian International Accordion Championships and Festival event has added new international classes, which are already attracting strong interest with promised entries from Croatia, Bosnia and German contestants.

The dates, June 9th and 10th, are one week after the South Pacific Accordion Championships in Auckland, New Zealand, which has similar international class competition rules planned. For the international traveller from the Northern hemisphere, it usually costs very little more to travel to both New Zealand and Australia, enabling contestants to perform the same music in two different competitions only one week apart and have a great time at two fun festivals doing so.

The AATA Gala Concert, expected to be a highlight of the event, and will be held in the beautifully appointed Club Marconi Main Auditorium, where top Australian accordionists, ensembles and orchestras will be performing as well as the 2006 Coupe Mondiale Piano Accordion Champion and other international guests.
