Statement by Victoria Accordion Factory - Italy
Contributed by Harley Jones, Director of the Accordions Worldwide

In January, Accordions Worldwide Weekly News published the Intermusik Press Release concerning Trademark Piracy. This was followed by a statement from the Borsini Factory, a statement from the Polverini Factory, now a statement by the Victoria Accordion Factory and not published, an Intermusik statement strongly defending their original Trademark Piracy Press Release.

Accordions Worldwide believes it has now given all parties involved a fair opportunity to make a public statement. Several legal actions are now before the courts and these will be reported at the appropriate time.

Midi Concertina Concert, Stockport - UK
Contributed by Rob Howard

John Nixon's demonstration concert of the midi concertina at Stockport Accordion Club in the North of England proved to be a most interesting evening, with John performing sounds and styles of the Spanish guitar, clarinet, trumpet, panpipes, church organ, etc. Using pre-recorded backing CDs, the audience heard a variety of sounds for some numbers.

The tricky Benny Goodman composition 'Slipped Disc' was one of the most memorable items, using clarinet backed by a rhythm section. John's 'string quartet' performance of Mozart's 'Eine Kleine Nachtmusik' was a startling combination of 2 violins, viola and cello. Some of the concertina purists in attendance seemed to be sceptical about the uses and potential of midi, but we did have a most enjoyable performance from John Nixon.

John Nixon is one of the UK's leading concertina players, and has worked with the likes of Henry Mancini, Barbara Streisland, Paul McCartney, and accordionists Frank Marocco, Jack Emblow, Harry Hussey and Marcel Azzola.

UK accordionist Bert Santilly writes:-
"I am doing a gig for a couple getting married in July and they want an accordionist to 'honour the grandmother`s memory'.

The grandmother was apparently a well-known accordionist in the 1930s and 1940s in California, USA. Her name was either Teresa Robbiano or Teresa Parcell. Her first husband, Joseph Parcell, was French-Italian and they had a travelling trio comprising of accordion, banjo and something else (not known). Apparently the husband was killed in an accident and the grandmother never played again.

I would like to fill in some of the gaps in the story for this couple if I can, and I would be grateful for any info you might be able to find; or failing that, for any help you can offer in pointing me in the direction of someone who might have that sort of info".
