Feierlichkeiten in Trossingen zur Firmenübergabe von Matthias Hohner
an seine 5 Söhne Jakob, Matthias, Andreas, Hans und Gottlieb William
am 19. September 1900. Die Firma beschäftigte damals 1.000 Mitarbeiter
mit einem Produktinsausstoss von 4 Millionen Harmonikas pro Jahr. Er war
zu Lebzeiten geachtet als lebende Legende, er war 3facher Millionär
und er war sehr beliebt, wie auch seine Harmonika Marke. Matthias Hohner
starb etwa 2 Jahre später am 11. Dezember 1902, dem Tag vor seinem
69. Geburtstag.
Celebrations
in Trossingen when the founder Matthias Hohner hands over the company
to his five sons, Jacob, Matthias, Andreas, Hans and Gottlieb William
on the 19th September 1900. The company then employed over 1,000 people
with a production output of four million harmonicas per annum. Regarded
in his lifetime as a living legend, his career was well publicised, he
was three times a millionaire and his likeness was beside the trade mark
on the harmonicas. Matthias Hohner died some two years later on 11th December
1902, the day before his 69th birthday.

Bald gab es Modelle mit offenen Klappen oder Wiener Modelle mit Verdeck.
Auch schon damals war die Gestalt des Verdecks der jeweiligen Mode unterworfen.
Hohner had
many innovative ideas and a wealth of technical solutions...Soon there
were models with open flaps or Viennese or models with grilles. The shape

company was employing 4,000 workers and producing 20 million harmonicas
a year. At this time Matthias Hohner's grandson, Ernst Hohner (1886 to
1965) was named Chief Executive. Ernst Hohner, the son of the founder's

Firmenchef Ernst Hohner (1886 bis 1965) nach 45 Dienst-Jahren in den Ruhestand
und starb auch in diesem Jahr. Zu seinen Lebzeiten wurde das Dr. Ernst
Hohner Konzerthaus 1960 eröffnet und 1960 wurde auch eine Straße
in Trossingen nach ihm benannt. Er war weithin bekannt als königlicher
Kaufmann.
In 1965 longtime
CEO Ernst Hohner (1886 to 1965) retired after 45 years in charge of the
firm and also died that year. During his lifetime, the Dr Ernst Hohner
Concert Hall opened in 1960 and a street in Trossingen bears his name.
He was widely known as the Kongiglicher Kaufmann (King of Businessmen).

Im Geschäftsjahr, das am 31. März 2001 endete, verzeichnete
Hohner zum ersten Mal seit 20 Jahren wieder Gewinne. Mit dieser starken
Erholung nähert sich die Firma Hohner ihrem 150. Geburtstag mit vielen
neu entwickelten Akkordeons, umfangreicher Forschung und mit neuen Produktions-Methoden
für Akkordeon und andere Instrumente. Die Firma Hohner befindet sich
in der besten Wachstums-Phase seit vielen Jahren.
For its fiscal
year ending March 31, 2001, Hohner posted its first profit in more than
20 years. This strong recovery as Hohner was nearing its 150th birthday
with many new designed accordion products, substantial research and improved
production methods for accordion and other instruments being implemented,
meant that the Hohner company was in the best growth phase in many years.

Anniversary was celebrated with a large city celebration in Trossingen
showing tremendous support from local and national politicians and the
city population. The world record for largest harmonica orchestra of the
world goes with 3,898 participants to Trossingen. The Hohner company is
setting off into the future on a very strong basis with excellent prospects
