Poland Celebrates World Accordion Day |
|
World Accordion Day was celebrated in Poland at the Academy of Music in Gdansk on
May 6th.
The celebrations included a presentation on accordion history and a concert of
Polish contemporary music featuring works by Olczak, Przybylski and Majkusiak - three generations
of Polish composers contributing many new works for the accordion repertoire.
In addition to these contemporary works, the Celebration also included
a presentation
of Roland V-Accordion by Piotr Skowronski, an Academy student who will
represent Poland in November in Rome and the 3rd Roland World Digital Accordion Festival, and a very interesting exibition
of ancient accordions presented by Academy student Pawel Nowak, who has collected
more than 100 antique instruments over many years.
