Accordion
teacher at the Auckland University Conservatory of Music,
Stephanie Poole performed with the Bach Musica on May 23rd,
2010.
Held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Parnell, Auckland
at 5 PM to a capacity audience, the concert theme was Music
and Dance, which featured two Piazzolla Tangos on the program,
'Invierno Porteno' and 'Otono Porteno.' To compliment the
Tango works, the concert featured Mary Jane OReilly
who mesmerised the audience with her dancing during the
tangos.
Accordionist Stephanie Poole performed the bandoneon parts,
first accompanying the choir then performing as soloist
with the Bach Musica. Founded in 1977, Bach Musica is a
choir and orchestra specialising in music of the Baroque
and Classical periods, and how become widely recognised
as one of New Zealand's premiere Baroque ensembles.
Stephanie Poole (nee Grey) was born in Auckland and has
been a prolific winner of competitions in New Zealand, including
three times winner of the New Zealand Solo Accordion Championship.
She was principal accordionist with the Air New Zealand
Accordion Orchestra which toured extensively through Europe,
the United States and China. Stephanie has taught a number
of New Zealands top accordionists and is currently
the accordion teacher for the University of Aucklands
Bachelor of Music (Accordion Performance) program.
