Celebrates World Accordion Day |

Love the Accordion" Concert

On May 1, 2010 in Chengdu (Sichuan Province) China,
the home town of renowned accordioist Chen Jun, more
than 100 accordion teachers, students and enthusiasts
responded to the CIA's invitation to commemorate World
Accordion Day by holding an "I Love the Accordion"
Concert in the main outdoor Music Plaza of Chengdu.
Sponsored
by the Sichuan Accordion Association, the popular
concert attracted a large audience of all ages from
six to 80 years old, and featured winners of some
of the largest International Accordion competitions,
including winners and runner's up at the 62nd Coupe
Mondiale held in Auckland, New Zealand in 2009.
These success were honored by the Ministry of Culture
of the People's Republic of China with the winners
and their instructors receiving 200,000 RMB (approximately
€ 22,000).
