I would like to use the text from the CD cover as it is a perfect 'sum up'
of what this recording is all about.
"Welcome to "Years Apart" - John MacDonald's 50th Album release
which includes some of John's most requested numbers from his Live Performances.
Included on this CD is his most popular Accordion Scottish and Irish selections,
along with haunting versions of Lift the Wings (from River Dance) Highland
Cathedral, Loch Duich and Mist Covered Mountains of Home. He also gives
us his own interpretations of French Musettes (Bourassque and Reine De Mussette
along with Swiss Polka) and a couple of classic versions of Tritsch Tratsch
Polka and Under the Double Eagle."
This recording is very diverse, covers a wide spectre of styles and would
be appealing to a wide audience. Sound production is of a superb quality
and masterly done. John uses his midi devices expertly and to the full extent.
Musically, this whole recording is "on high" - easy listening,
"happy" tunes and toe tappers. John has built (over the years)
his very individual performing style: technically sound, he performs with
a lot of charm. To see his Live Show is quite an experience too.
If you are after diverse people's music - John's recording would be the
way to go. |
