| The 2017 Coupe Mondiale has 4 major concerts that are promoting the cultural achievements of Italian accordion to the world. Each concert is being held in the magnificent Teatro La Nuova Fenice. Admission is free and tickets are available from the "Info Centre" at the Teatro Fenice from 2pm, 4th September. Tuesday 5th September: The Opening concert features conductor Roberto Molinelli, Operapop, Mirco Patarini, Antonio Spaccarotella and Orchestra Sinfonica "G Rossini". Concert poster above. Wednesday 6th September: Jazz Concert by Simone Zanchini Quartet. Thursday 7th September: Concert "Temperamento Barocco" featuring Giorgio Dellarole (accordion), Francesco Baroni (harpsichord), Enrico Contini (baroque cello) and Luca Giardini (baroque violin). Friday 8th September: 4 Premieres of Italian works for accordion by composers Corrado Rojac, Cesare Chiacchiaretta, Pier Paolo Cascioli, Angelo Bruzzese with soloists Marco Gemelli, Ghenadie Rotari, Dario Flammmini, Samuele Telari conducted by Marco Gatti. | Lady of Spain, written by the English bandleader and composer, Tolchard Evans was made extremely popular by the legendary American accordionist Dick Contino (January 17, 1930 - April 19, 2017). The handsome young heartthrob played it as a solo on the Horace Heidt Radio Show and kept winning week after week after week. Although he played many other pieces, Lady of Spain became his most recognizable and most popular one, even more so after his 1950 appearance on the Ed Sullivan TV Show. A regular performer at the Las Vegas Accordion Convention, Dick Contino's last appearance their was in 2014 when he stood up as usual and played a very long set of pieces with his back-up guys as well as singing. Dick brought the audience to tears with his inspirational and poignant commentary. It has been the tradition for the Las Vegas International Accordion Orchestra to close the Convention on Thursday Evening and many times Dick was in the audience with his family and his many friends. This year will be different. It will be the first Convention after Dick’s death. As a tribute to Dick, Joan Cochran Sommers has arranged Lady of Spain for the festival Orchestra to play as the closing piece on its program. She thought it would be inspiring and exciting to have Cory Pesaturo, Grayson Masefield and Stas Venglevski join the orchestra on a couple of choruses – ala The Three Tenors, following along the lines of how the Three Tenors performed all over the world with various symphony orchestras. Cory, Grayson and Stas will be the Star Performers at the 2017 Las Vegas Accordion Convention and when they join the festival orchestra, they will show the audience some of the bellows shakes that were made so popular by Dick Contino, better known in Las Vegas as Mr. Entertainment.   The 42nd “Citta di Castelfidardo” International Accordion Competitions and Festival from 10th to 17th September has released its updated competitions and concert schedule. 2017ConcorsoThe 2017 Castelfidardo Premio e Concorso Internazionale di Fisarmonica is organised by the Castelfidardo Municipal Administration headed by Mayor Roberto Ascani (picture left), the Castelfidardo Pro Loco led by Ruben Cittadini (picture right) and event Artistic Director Christian Riganelli. Entries closed 20th August with good entries and the competition categories are now listed. Performing at the festival, are many well known accordionists performing as soloists or with their groups including (alphabetical order): Marc Berthoumieux, Raffael Damen, Dario Flammini, Alessandro Gaudio, Inspiration Trio, Antonio De Luca, Danilo Di Paolonicola, Massimiliano Pitocco, Vladislav Pligovka, Damiano Ragnini, Giacomo Rotatori, Trio Paglialunga, Also a concert of students of Beijing Conservatory: (Yue Zihann, Wang Jingyang, Cheng Yuhan, Mao Junhao) and a concert of students from various Italian conservatories: (Names not yet listed). | Beltango perform Milonga para as Missoes" at Tango Munchen in 2015 In the beautiful city of Trieste, situated on the Italian shore of the Adriatic Sea, the International Trieste Tango Festival is back for its fifth year. The event is going to take place at Molo IV, a beautiful location surrounded by sea. Opening the Festival on the 31st August is the great Beltango Quintet (Serbia) who will also be performing on the 1st August. The Finale will feature the Tango Spleen orchestra until 1:30 am for a "Great Closing Milonga". |

Roland Announce Ludovic Beier Performance at Coupe Mondiale - Italyby Harley Jones |
 Sean Montgomery, Accordion Product Manager of Roland Europe Group Ltd has announced that Ludovic Beier (France) will perform at the Digital Accordion Concert organised as part of the 2017 Coupe Mondiale. Manufacturers of digital accordions have been invited by the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) to contribute a performer for a concert of "expert and high level digital accordion performance". This concert will be presented to the public (and to the world by video broadcast) to demonstrate the very best of digital accordion music. Ludovic Beier learned the accordion from his father and benefits from being part of a musical family. He was brought up in the French tradition of the instrument and turned to jazz at young age. At a young age, Ludovic was already playing on the French, European and American scene with some of the top jazz players. Ludovic Beier has travelled extensively performing with many famous artists at many famous music festivals and international jazz venues as well as travelling to many parts of the world demonstrating the Roland digital accordion range. Concert at 17:00 Sunday 10th September in the prestigious Teatro La Nuova Fenice, Osimo.  To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Master Production, Director Antonella Toccaceli (picture right) is proud to release two new digital accordion models. One model has internal amplifier and battery and the other, digital only, weighs a mere 6 kilos.These two new instruments are going to be featured by Stefano Indino (video above) performing at the Digital Accordion Concert on Sunday 10th September at the end of the 2017 Coupe Mondiale. This concert will present to the public (and to the world by video broadcast) the very best of digital accordion music. Performing with Stefano Indino is percussionist Massimo Carrano. Since a young age, Stefano Indino has pursued a dual career, as a sound engineer, recording studio producer as well as accordion teacher, accordion entertainer.  Video: Christine Schmid in concert performing Libertango at Musikmesse Frankfurt.Christine Schmid concert titled "Ich bereue nichts, mon amour" (I do not regret anything my love) will be held Friday 1st September 19:00 at Brandl's Kulturscheune Enkendorf. Christine Schmid studied at the Hohner Conservatory Trossingen and at the Opera Workshop at Basel Conservatory. Later she attended the Jazz School Basel and Paris in music theory, accordion and vocals. After her studies she had various engagements such as the title role in ‘Marlene Dietrich’ at the Musical Theater in Basel and regular appearances as a guest soprano with the Spa Orchestra Badenweiler, followed by appearances on radio and television. Christine Schmid is also vocal and speech trainer and a successful model and mannequin. In May this year, she released ‘Paris to Berlin’, a CD featuring mainly French and some German music. After a successful debut at the Speilburg Festival, where Cory Pesaturo, sponsored by Red Bull, was performing with popular Tunisian violinist Yasmine Azaiez and drummer Chis Southiere, Cory is again travelling, this time to Italy. Cory will be performing at private events for the Red Bull Formula 1 Team in Italy for the Formula 1 Grand Prix weekend at Monza, 1 - 3 September. Cory Pesaturo has performed at various Formula 1 events over the past 2 years and Red Bull have sponsored him for other performances such as his recent successful Guiness World Record.
