 The third International Competition of accordion performers "Dizzy Accordion" will be held from April 5th to 9th at the Altai State Music College in Barnaul, Siberia organised by the Altai State Musical College committee and directed by Yuri Krikun (picture right). The event is designed to promote the development of the performers' creativity with the accordion, the improvement of their professional skills, performing culture, artistic taste, the identification of gifted and promising performers, perfection of pedagogical skills, and popularization of the accordion.The competition includes accordion classes for soloists, ensembles, Classics (performance of classical music, solo or in ensemble); Variety (performance of light music on an accordion solo, with ensemble or accompanied by a phonogram); Electronic accordion (solo or ensemble performance, involving an accordion, with a MIDI (digital) system - not to be confused with a system of built-in microphones); - Tango (performance of music in the style of "Tango", solo or in an ensemble); Folklore (performing folk music, solo or in an ensemble). Each of these classes has a variety of age categories. Entrants are invited from students of music schools, students of music colleges & universities, amateur musicians as well as professional musicians from Russia and other countries. The jury will be formed by the organizing committee and include leading musicians and music teachers of Russia and foreign countries. Competition entries close on March 19th.
