Marta Cubas Hondal Wins Special Cantabria Music Prize - Spainby Christine Johnstone |
Marta Cubas Hondal (student of Gorka Hermosa) was honored as the first accordionist to win the Extraordinary Prize for Professional Music Education, which the Cantabrian Government awards every year to the best student. The competition was held on October 10th at the Jesus Monastery Conservatory of Santander in 2 phases. In the first phase, Marta presented a recording of three pieces of different styles, with a maximum total duration of 15 minutes. Once Marta had passed this phase she then continued to the second phase which consisted of the live face-to-face interpretation of two pieces of different styles, with a maximum duration of 10 minutes each. The evaluation of the awards was made according to the following criteria: a) Technical level. Up to 25 points. b) Aesthetic and stylistic coherence. Up to 50 points. c) Stage presence. Up to 10 points. d) Difficulty of the work presented. Up to 15 points. The jury was formed by José Ramón López, Inspector General of Education and several specialized music advisors. The prize consists of 500 euros and promotion opportunities. |
