![]() ![]() The concerts were all splendid affairs. Giancarlo Caporilli (Italy, picture top-left), performing acoustically, played Monti’s ‘Czardas’ and other classics plus much Italian musette music and some of his own compositions with great style. Pearl Fawcett-Adriano (picture middle-left) performed pieces from her new CD, such as ‘Granada’, ‘Hejre Kati’, ‘Sleepy Blues’, ‘Lambeth Polka’, ‘Ciribiribin’, and a ‘Carmen’ suite. There were strong supporting spots by Harry Hussey (picture top-right), David Price, Rosemary Wright (picture lower-right), Bert Santilly, Alan Young (picture lower-left), Sue Coppard, and The Clarinet Connection. The local accordion quintet Norvic Concordia (MD Peter Ayers) performed a fine pre-dinner concert in their own highly tasteful style. Alan Young – piano and vocals, Harry Hussey on accordion, and Geoff Cook on tenor sax played for dancing in a jazzy style, and Roy Hendrie played for Scottish dancing. Other features of the festival were workshops and a trade show. The final concert included performances by the various orchestral workshops, more spots by some of the guests, and ‘Auld Lang Syne’, played by Roy Hendrie. Next year’s festival is set for October 7th to 11th 2013. |
