Pearl Fawcett-Adriano at Perth, Scotland – UK

November 1st this year was a special date for me - I appeared as star guest artiste in the 59th Perth All Scotland Accordion & Fiddle Festival Celebrity Show. Bill Wilkie puts on this event annually and I (Pearl Fawcett-Adriano) have appeared as star guest three times in past years.

Having had several years’ absence from playing, it has been a pleasure for me to return to public performance at last, and I was delighted to accept Bill Wilkie’s invitation to be guest artiste at the New Concert Hall in Perth, Scotland. I received such a warm welcome – it was as if I had never been away!

Throughout the day there were competitions – different categories and different age groups – culminating in the Celebrity Show in the evening. The New Concert Hall is an excellent venue, seating 1,200 people. There was a capacity audience, all seats having sold out weeks before the concert! The concert included Bill’s Accordion Orchestra and Singers and various other artistes, including Scottish dancers, Scottish dance band, Scottish Opera tenor, comedian, etc. I played a varied programme ranging from classics to blues, and my performance was received with great warmth and excitement with the audience applauding and cheering exuberantly. It was wonderful to return (after so long away) and receive such an incredible ovation.

Apart from the success of the concert, the Scottish friendliness and hospitality was second to none.

"Scarlatti per tutti", Music Academy of Kassel - Germany

"Scarlatti per tutti", at the Music Academy of Kassel, on Tuesday December 2nd 2008, was an evening dedicated to the composer Domenico Scarlatti, conceived and presented by the lecturer Mirjana Petercol. The large audience was delighted by the 2 hours of Scarlatti's 16 sonatas played by students of the department of keyboard instruments (accordion, harpsichord, piano) of the Music Academy of Kassel, and the academic lectures about the daringness of the sonatas given by Dr. Führbeth and Professor Hollmann.

The introductory speech about Scarlatti's life and work was held by the artistic (musician) head teacher, the lecturer Mirjana Petercol. The audience was very eager to learn about the composer Domenico Scarlatti and his different levels: the brilliant composer, virtuoso and aristocratic free thinker. The HNA journal enphasized in its reviews "that the accordionists Nenad Nikolic and Dejan Vukcic as well as the advanced guest Nicola Glavas (all students of Mirjana Petercol's class) knew how to please. Dejan Vujcic combined a clear rhythmical impulse with a rich nuance of dynamics so typical of accordionists. Here there was less drive but more spiritualized poetry."
