  CIA President Mirco Patarini wrote: "I am delighted to be welcoming contestants from many parts of the world to participate in the 71st Coupe Mondiale being held in Kaunas, Lithuania from the 24 – 30 September.There are approx. 90 contestants and 66 international delegates registered from 25 different nations worldwide and all those attending will hear competition performances of the highest level." Kaunas City with the Lithuanian National Accordionist's Union, President Kazys Stonkus, Vice-President Mindaugas Labanauskas, are preparing an oustanding event. President Patarini added: “During the 2018 Coupe Mondiale, there will also be exciting concerts, the "World Accordion Orchestra X" and the CIA Delegates will hold their 140th General Assembly in which a variety of international business will be discussed including the election of many officers of the CIA For those who are unable to attend the 2018 Coupe Mondiale, they can view the extensive Daily Reports, pictures and information and video of each competitor, including the final Prize Winners Concert on Saturday 30th September, all online at Coupe Mondiale.   The City Council of Castelfidardo (Marche region, Italy), in collaboration with Castelfidardo Pro Loco Tourist Association, calls and organizes the PIF International Competition “Città di Castelfidardo” reserved for accordion soloists and groups, of classical music and other genres. The Castelfidardo Municipal Administration is led by Mayor Roberto Ascani, the Castelfidardo Pro Loco headed by Ruben Cittadini, and event Artistic Director Renzo Ruggieri. The event will take place in Castelfidardo (AN, Marche region) from September 2018, 9th to 16th and will be open to all accordionists. Of interest to many is that Friedrich Lips, a famous artist of the modern classical accordion will give a seminar: “Russian accordion music of last decades”, September 16, Auditorium Binci at 9:30 am.  Picture above left to right: José Alfonso Maslucán Culqui - President Accordion Association of PerúPatricia Balbuena - Minister of Culture of Perù Mauro Marsili - Ambassador of Italy to Peru Mirco Patarini Marisol Espinoza Cruz - Congresswoman Peru James Atkins - President of Petroperú The newly formed “Asociacion de Accordeonistas de Peru” (Association of Accordionists of Peru) welcomed on the 25th August with great enthusiasm at their 1st international concert, accordionist Mirco Patarini who is also the President of CIA (Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes). The event presenting the new national accordion association plus a concert with ethnic local groups and a masterclass, organized with the collaboration of local authorities including the Minister of Culture Patricia Balbuena, the President of the above mentioned association Alfonso Maslucan and Marisol Espinoza Cruz, Congresswoman and an important political figure in Peru. The concert took place in Lima in the great Theatre of the Cultural Centre of San Isidro and was sold out. Mirco Patarini enchanted the audience with his performance of different musical styles in keeping with the aim of pomoting art, culture and music and accordion tradition, both folk genre and also concert repertoire. During speeches at the end, Mirco Patarini invited the new association "to apply to the CIA for membership with the hope of having Peruvian competitors at future Coupe Mondiales, the oldest and most important international accordion competition." Mirco Patarini was honored to receive from the Congreso de la Republica Peru a certificate of "Recognition to Mirco Patarini for his valuable and constant support in the promotion and dissemination of Peruvian culture and accordion." The certificate was signed by Daniel Enrique Salaverry Villa (President del Congreso de la Republica) and Congresswoman Marisol Espinoza Cruz who also presented the prestigious certificate to Mirco Patarini. Also attending was the owner of LATAM airlines, the Ambassador of Santo Domingo, the President of the Commission for Culture of the government and many other important people of Peru. |

 The 71st International CIA Coupe Mondiale, 24 – 30 September, 2018 is in Kaunas, Lithuania, hosted by the CIA member, Lithuanian National Accordionist's Union.All are welcomed to this exciting international accordion event and accordionists are invited to perform in the CIA "World Accordion Orchestra X" on Sunday 30th September in a concert with other fine accordion orchestras. The World Accordion Orchestra X under the direction of Prof. Joan Sommers will perform three works: 1. Serenata by Leroy Anderson 2. Recuerdos by Amy Jo Sawyer 3. West Side Story - the CIA joins the global centennial celebration in honor of Leonard Bernstein's 100th annivesary.  In pdf format sent to you by email.The Lilliput series by Ivano Battiston is not an accordion method but a collection of small musical forms, divided into five volumes, inspired by the Mikrokosmos by Béla Bartók and composed with the following didactic intents: - offer musical material - to the accordionist with a single note instrument - from the very first lessons up to the thresholds of a medium level preparation (fifth year of study); - bring the scholar closer to most musical forms and to a heterogeneous sound world; - lead the young accordionist towards a gradual exploration of the instrument, through an active participation in the problems of musical interpretation; - increase instrumental skills through learning based on the increase in the number of sounds; - introduce the scholar to the orchestral dimension of the accordion, also creating compositions inspired by the characteristics of the other musical instruments. The pieces can be played with any type of instrument provided with single notes.  I became the AAA Historian six months before the association’s 70th anniversary in 2008. It came as a shock to me when I was told that there had never been an official historian prior to myself and that there were no files, no organized photographs, no documents – nothing that was readily accessible to me. I had to start from scratch. I was totally determined to come up with a reasonable 70 year presentation for the July festival, so I turned to my wonderful mentor, Faithe Deffner. “I will help you”, said Faithe, and she certainly did!  ‘60 at Sixty’ is a new release from Sean Wilson. During nearly thirty years of recording and performing, the Irish accordion player and singer has accumulated a huge repertoire of songs. On this new three disc project he combines 6 new songs, 14 of his most memorable recordings, 20 songs that are not released on CD and a newly created DVD: ‘You Can't Turn Back The Years’. The DVD describes Sean's earliest days growing up around Lough Neagh in County Derry and his improbable but richly earned successes. He goes on to describe the highs and lows of his career and features his best performances on video. After nearly three decades entertaining global audiences, this release is the first time Sean features a compilation of his most popular songs and will be a great introduction to those who don't know his work so well.Sean Wilson, from Derry in Northern Ireland, began playing the accordion as a young boy when his father bought him an instrument. He joined a local ceili band, played at dances, then one night was prompted to sing a song, leading Sean to do more singing. This eventually led to a record deal, and over the years his prolific CD and DVD sales have been huge throughout Ireland, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. | The 11th Annual Noir Festival returns to East Vancouver September 14 – 16, 2018 at the Wise Hall. They have a full slate of talent lined up including singer and author Geoff Berner who is also billed as the patron Saint of the Accordion Noir movement. Geoff has participated in many of the festivals and is determined to show an entire generation of accordion punks that another, less bubbly, world is possible. Also taking part in the festival is legendary busker-king Jason Webley returning to the festival after a long absence who will be spinning yarns like a Russian sailor we hear. Also performing is Emchy who is inspired by 1920s cabaret music, murder ballads and Leonard Cohen. Saturday’s festivities include a Polka Party, so come on down and kick up your heels and dance. The festival kicks off Friday evening at 8:00 pm. Admission is $20. Advance tickets for Saturday’s dance party available through Brown Paper Tickets. |

 Scottish accordionist and singer Ronnie Ross entertains at Armstrong's Social Club, Grovehill Road, Beverley HU17 0ED, near Hull, on Saturday September 15th and Sunday 16th. On Saturday evening Ronnie Ross plays for ballroom and sequence dancing, and on Sunday afternoon performs a concert of Country, Scottish and East Listening music.Ronnie Ross, from Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, comes from a musical family. A self-taught accordionist, he is a resident entertainer in several hotels, and also owns a recording studio. He has recorded several CDs and DVDs, the most recent being a CD of Scottish accordion music, ‘Scottish Accordion Gems’. |

| The trio Kosmos concerts perform in concert on Saturday 15th, 7.30pm, at the Curry Rivel Music Club, St Andrew's Church, The Green, Curry Rivel, near Langport, Somerset. Kosmos are Harriet Mackenzie – violin, Meg Hamilton – viola, and Miloš Milivojevic – accordion. Serbian-born Miloš Milivojevic is a first prize winner at international competitions in Germany, France, Italy and Denmark. In Serbia he studied with Vojin Vasovic, and with Owen Murray at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he graduated and was awarded with Dip RAM. In 2007 he became the first accordionist ever to win the RAM Club Prize at the Academy and in the 2008 was the Winner of the prestigious Derek Butler London Prize at the Wigmore Hall, London.
