HHS Bischofsheim (MD Stefan Finkenauer), an accordion orchestra from Germany, shared a concert with Crewe Brass (MD Jamie Meredith) on Saturday October 1st in the cathedral-like splendour of St Mary’s Church in Nantwich, Cheshire. A large audience enjoyed sparkling performances, first from the local brass band, then the visiting accordion orchestra, and finishing with both bands together for a magnificent finale. The Crewe Brass programme included Liberty Fanfare, Selection from Les Miserables, Under the Boardwalk, Game of Thrones, and Procession to the Minster. HHS Bischofsheim’s programme included Miss Saigon Medley, Choral and Rock Out, The Lord of the Dance, You’ll be in my heart, Finlandia, and Chatanooga Choo Choo. The concert came to a memorable conclusion with the two bands together for rousing performances of the Florentine March and Highland Cathedral, showcasing the brilliance of these contrasting yet compatible ensembles. Since 2010 Crewe Brass has had a strong friendship with HHS Bischofsheim, from Crewe and Nantwich’s twin town, and they have shared a stage several times both in England and Germany.
