 On June 1st, the new website went online of Voci Armoniche, the producer of high quality reeds for harmonicas and acoustic accordions since 1935.The new website announces for the first time, BlueStar highest quality reeds, different from the reeds of the past and those of today. The concept that led to BlueStar is a combination of Voci Armoniche production history as handed down over the years plus years of research and development to create new innovation; to achieve the highest quality possible, surpassing the hand-made voices for acoustic and functional potential. | Video: 2016 Fleadh Finale, Ennis Co Clare, Ireland. The 2021 Fleadhfest Sligo will take place online this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, from August 1st to 9th, 2021 in Sligo, Ireland. Organisers plan performances by a variety of musicians, singers and bands, who will take part in concerts, sessions, competitions and many of the other elements that you’d typically enjoy at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Closer to the dates they will be able to let you know whether they can welcome audience members to attend any live events. However, they look forward to bringing you the very best in traditional Irish music, song and culture this August. The festival was a three day event running from May 28th to 30th and included a variety of masterclasses and concerts. The Duo includes accordionists Alessandro Gaudio and Salvatore Pace, young talented musicians from southern Italy, united by the same passion for their country! They perform original, popular and world music. |

| The National Association of Accordion & Fiddle Clubs (NAAFC) will hold their Honours Celebration online this year, following the cancellation of the 2020 event due to Covid-19. The event will take place on June 27th, 2021 at 2pm. The NAAFC will honour the 2020 recipients, Anda Campbell (accordion), Malcolm Ross (accordion) and Peter Bruce at this event. In addition to the Virtual Honours Celebration, the event will also feature presentations, interviews, music performances from each of the Honoured Guests plus a few other special guests and updates from the NAAFC.   French accordionist, Louise Jallu featured on the Radio Nacional AM870 show ''Estaci Piazzolla'' in Buenos Aires, Argentina, devoted to Piazzolla's centenary this week.Radio host Victor Hugo Morales interviewed Louise and discussed her new album “Piazzolla 2021” which was released in January this year at a concert at the Paris Philharmonic in France with the support of the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation. The album was recorded with Argentine and French musicians, including pianist Gustavo Beytelmann, who was also Piazzolla's pianist. The program also included a great interview with Astor Piazzolla in which he tells about the history of the Bandoneon, its arrival in Argentina and details of the capabilities of the instrument’s sound quality. |

 Video: “Doppelbock” performing Schatten (Shadow), a track from their debut album "So Schön".“Doppelbock”, a rock band from Hessen, Germany, released their debut album "So Schön" (So Beautiful) on May 28th, 2021. The band includes Marco Czerny (accordion), Bruno (guitar & vocals), Tom (bass) and Klaus (drums). The accordion features strongly in the band “which Marco Czerny plays very rousingly and gives the band a unique selling point.” |

 The ORFEJ Accordeus Music Competition was held online this year for all primary and secondary school accordion soloists and chamber ensemble students from any part of the world.Vanja Albijanic, Artistic Director of the Orfej Festival says “The goal of the competition is to encourage musicians around the world to perform and improve their craft”. Results as follows: ACCORDION I category: Peter Sokol (Slovakia) II category: Ajdin Okic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) III category: Paula Petríková (Slovakia) IV category: Viacheslav Moseichuk (Ukraine) CHAMBER MUSIC I category: Flute Trio “Moderato” (Bosnia and Herzegovina) II category: “Duo Monti” (Serbia) Competition winners will perform live at a gala concert as part of the "Orfej" Classical Music Festival which will be held in November 2021 in East Sarajevo and Sarajevo. |

| A special "Non-Typical Bayan" concert program was held in the auditorium of the library "In the Lakes" in St. Petersburg, Russia this week on June 3rd. Performances were given by students of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, winners of international competitions: Natalia Vinokurova, Maxim Gorokhov and Vera Malikova. Their program included works from different eras and genres: from classics to modern music with pieces by Joseph Haydn, Domenico Scarlatti, Antonio Vivaldi, Astor Piazzolla and others. |

| The first anniversary special of the Virtual Accordion Camp V, will be held online on June 5th, 2021. The event will include workshops, jam sessions, social time during the day and a special celebration evening concert. The accordion camp theme is composition, and workshops will cover some popular contemporary compositions with lots of accordion technique and accordion-specific ideas built into the sessions as well as information on how to create your own tunes and harmonies! In addition the event will feature a tune party by tutors as they share their favorite pieces of music for all to play along with. Sheet music will be available in advance. The group are an American Balkan brass/jazz band that enjoy performing a mix of dixieland, funk, klezmer, and Roma music.Their members include Peter Stan (accordion), John Carlson trumpet), Darren Johnston (trumpet), Peter Hess (saxophone), Adan Dotson (trombone), Tim Vaughn (trombone), Kenny Bentley(tuba), Chris Stromquist (percussion) and Matt Moran (tapan). The concert will be held at the outdoor stage of The Belvedere at Crooners in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA and features special guests Diane Jarvi (vocals) and Tony Balluff (oboe). The Cafe Accordion Orchestra also includes Eric Mohring (mandolin, violin & vocals), Erik Lillestol (bass & vocals) and Joe Steinger (percussion).  The New Forest Folk Festival will take place from July 7th to 11th, 2021 at Powells farm in Plaitford, Romsey, Hants, UK.The festival will include a variety of concerts, sessions, workshops, singarounds, dancing and ceilidhs. | The 2021 Australian Accordion Teachers Association (AATA) International Accordion Championships & Festival will be held online again this year, organised by Tatjana Marx (picture left). Following the success of the 2020 online event, the AATA will once again run competition categories for overseas candidates online by video submission. In addition the event will feature an in-person competition for Australian residents. There are a number of new competition categories available this year to reflect the latest international trends. All Categories will still be adjudicated by a jury of international experts from Australia and overseas. Entries close on Friday 13th August 2021. Results will be announced on August 30th, 2021.
