The 8th Strumenti & Musica Festival enjoyed a significant increase in the number of accordion and piano contestants compared to previous festivals and also important, the quality and artistic profiles of the competitors.

Competitors came from Romania, Japan. Russia, China, Greece, Chile, Lithuania, Belarus, USA, Netherlands, Czech Republic and Italy.

Organized by The Italian Accordion Culture (IAC) Association, CIA IMC-UNESCO Italian member, the Strumenti & Musica Festivaalso stood out for its high quality concerts.

Starting from “La Musica Barocca” held in the historical setting of the hall of honor in Palazzo Leti Sansi, by Giorgio Dellarole (accordion) and Massimiliano Limonetti (clarinet), who performed compositions from the repertoire of Scarlatti, Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann and Stanley.

On Saturday evening, in the same historic venue, was the Duo Buttons & Bellows (Aleksandar Nikolic and Petar Maric) with the combination bandoneon and accordion. This incredible concert attracted lot of people who were very interested to listen to this combination of instruments and repertoire of Bach to Vivaldi, Angelis to Piazzolla and Galliano.

The audience also enjoyed the closing concert held in Theatre Caio Melisso, which included performances by the winners of each category. The young artists, including the youngest Russian piano player (only 6 years old), enchanted the guests with composers from Bach to Piazzolla to the Rhapsody in Blue of Gershwin performed by the Accordion Orchestra Fancelli directed by Marco Gatti.

The artistic directors Mirco Patarini and Michele Rossetti of the “Strumenti&Musica Festival” and of the International piano competitions “Città di Spoleto”, stated to be very pleased of the general results of this event, reaffirming the importance and the prestige that the City of Spoleto assumes in the musical international and cultural environments.

Also the Mayor of Spoleto Fabrizio Cardarelli spent nice words for the organization, especially for the important contribution that this event gave to Spoleto.

Many young talents came back home not only wearing a medal but also with nice memories of this fascinating city.

The acordion winners were:
- Shirokov Rodion (Russia) cat. A, and the italians Lorenzo Scolletta, cat. B, Daniele Carabetta, cat. C, Valerio Russo, cat. D, Accordion Orchestra Luciano Fancelli, cat. E, Alessandro Pagliari, cat. F, Debora Moriconi, cat.G and Sofia Santorelli, Cat. H.

Three winners were also awarded a scholarship from the IAC (Italian Accordion Culture) that will cover all the expenses to compete at the 2016 Coupe Mondiale, 7th to 11th September in Rostov ON-Don, Russia.
