 The 2024 ATG Festival is honoring Joan C. Sommers and celebrating her 90th birthday in Kansas City MI, July 23 - 27, 2024. There are a number of special events including the ATG Festival Orchestra directed by Joan C. Sommers playing new music by Gorka Hermosa and Ian Watson, the UMKC Community Accordion Orchestra directed by Joan C. Sommers. A superb array of international level performers including: (alphabetical order) Bridge and Wolak (Canada), Das Duo Kollektiv (Austria), Gorka Hermosa (Spain) Grayson Masefield (New Zealand), Mirco Patarini (CIA President - Italy), Stas Venglevski (USA) and others. 2024 ATG International World Cup Accordion Competition. | Founded in 2008, the Chamber Music Forum has given over 30 concerts to date and has established itself as an important and traditional Bruckner University concert series in Linz's concert life. The central belief of the forum: students and teachers make music together in all chamber music formations with a leitmotif (short, recurring musical phrase) in the program selection. With the anniversary concert on November 28th, 2023, the Chamber Music Forum looked back on 15 years of diverse and special chamber music concerts. At the same time, the Chamber Music Forum would like to celebrate a new era together with its audience, look forward and pursue exciting paths both musically and personally. The artistic team was expanded to include two members: Prof. Heidi Luosujärvi (accordion), and Prof. Johanna Dömötör (flute – both pictured above), who will now give the chamber music forum a feminine touch and were present at the anniversary concert on November 28th, 2023, in the Great Hall of the Bruckner University in Linz. Together with students from Bruckner University, they played dazzling chamber music works by American and Finnish composers such as Leonard Bernstein, George Crumb, Kalevi Aho, Aulis Sallinen and Cecilia Damström. | A fundraising concert for Alzheimers Gisborne was held by Peter Duckworth in Gisborne. Despite dreadful weather causing significant flooding in the region and major damages, an enthusiastic audience of about 100 people attended the concert which concluded with a standing ovation for Maurice Jones. Maurice Jones provided his music and travel as a donation to this deserving cause. |

 The National Accordion Association (NAA) annual convention will be held from March 20th to 24th, 2024 at the Hilton Gardens in Lewisville, Texas, USA. For those arriving early, Wednesday evening will be a relaxed time of “meet and greet” and perhaps jam a bit with old friends.Download: 2024NAA-Schedule.pdf The Convention Coordinator is Rick Custer (picture left) This 2024 Convention will be the most exciting convention ever. Lewisville is diligently working to identify itself as a Music City. To that end we are partnering with the city of Lewisville and the Texas Music Association to promote the convention inside Texas and the surrounding states. Texas music style as well as other genres will be represented. The event will focus on the overall education of accordionists regardless of their musical skill levels. The objective is to contribute to the success of the musician in training and teaching basic theory and physical skills, practicing those skills, and performing what has been learned. Musicians of all skill levels are invited to play popular and familiar music in a band consisting of two or three accordion parts in easy to play arrangements. Throughout the day in individual classroom settings, what is taught will be practiced and performed by individual students. Evening jam sessions will be facilitated by teaching professionals using downloadable, printable, easy-to-moderate arrangements of popular genres. There will also be an open mic night, a Party Night, Saturday night banquet, a Dealers’ room, and a technician on premises to make repairs on your accordion.
