 Il XXXIX concorso Internazionale Città di Castelfidardo si svolge a Castelfidardo, Ancona, dal 18 al 21 settembre. Il festival è organizzato con il sostegno dell'amministrazione comunale della città e la Pro Loco Associazione Turistica. Il direttore artistico è Roberto Lucanero ( foto a sinistra ).Le norme ei regolamenti delle competizioni in italiano e inglese possono essere scaricati all'indirizzo: 2014castelfidardo Il concorso ha sezioni per tutti i tipi di fisarmoniche (comprese le fisarmoniche digitali) e bandoneon, per l'assolo, ensemble e orchestre. Tutti i vincitori del concorso si esibiranno in un concerto al Teatro Astra. Ci saranno premi in denaro, borse di studio e trofei in offerta per i concorrenti che si piazzeranno nei posti più alti. Il termine ultimo per le iscrizioni è il 24 agosto. Quest'anno, per la prima volta, l'evento di Castelfidardo e il membro della CIA italiano IAC hanno fatto in modo che gli italiani possano qualificarsi per la CIA Coupe Mondiale 2014, che si terrà a Salisburgo, Austria, dal 27 ottobre al 2 novembre.  Accordions Now! 2014, il 7° Festival annuale di musica co - sponsorizzato dalla New Hampshire Accordion Association e la Accordion Connection LLC, si terrà dall'8 al 10 Agosto presso il bellissimo Cortile Nashua, New Hampshire .I fan della fisarmonica si riuniranno per un fine settimana pieno di musica, amicizia, e festa, per godere di concerti, workshop, jam session, un play-along solo per divertimento, e la fdamosissima Accordions Now! Festival Orchestra diretta da co -fondatore e direttore artistico Donna Maria Regis. Tony Lovello ( foto a destra ) sarà protagpnista della lista di artisti che verrà annunciata a breve.E' disponibile uno sconto per gli ingressi fino al 31 Maggio.  Hauspoz Euskal Herriko Akordoei Elkartea organizza il VII Concorso Internazionale di Composizione ' Francisco Escudero ', e tutti i dettagli sono ora disponibili. L'obiettivo del concorso è quello di promuovere la creazione di composizioni per fisarmonica solista e per fisarmonica nella musica da camera.Download regolamento: 2014Escudero Il concorso è aperto a compositori di qualsiasi età e nazionalità. Il concorso prevede una categoria unica con opere composte per fisarmonica solista e musica da camera. La lunghezza non deve superare i 10 minuti. Le opere di musica da camera devono essere composte per un massimo di quattro musicisti in cui vi è almeno una fisarmonica. Il termine ultimo per le iscrizioni è il 5 settembre 2014. 'Premi per giovani musicisti' ( AYM ) , Londra - UKby Rob Howard |
 ' Premi per giovani musicisti ' (Awards for Young Musicians) sta introducendo un progetto il 30 marzo, organizzato da Hester Cockcroft e condotto da Ksenija Sidorova ( foto a destra ), per circa 10 talentuosi giovani fisarmonicisti fino all'età di 18 anni.Ciò comprende una master class e una performance pubblica guidata da Ksenija Sidorova. AYM mira ad aiutare i giovani con eccezionale potenziale musicale provenienti da famiglie a basso reddito, per superare gli ostacoli che devono affrontare e per identificare e sostenere le loro potenzialità. Il programma della giornata è il seguente: - Ksenija condurrà una master class presso la Royal Academy of Music, Domenica 30 marzo, 10:30-13:30. - Pomeriggio esibizione pubblica (di circa 30 minuti ) in una posizione centrale a Londra, possibilmente la stazione ferroviaria di Kings Cross. | Video above: Alma Quintet performing 'Deep Breathing' composed by Evan Harlan, who is also the accordionist on this video. Evan Harlan passed away on February 27, 2014 from a long term illness. Evan Harlan (accordian, piano, composer, and music director) has recorded and performed internationally with several jazz and world music ensembles including Dave Douglas, the Klezmer Conservatory Band and the Von Trapp Singers. His own quartet, Andromeda, played original music with the flavors of Americana, tango, gypsy, and other passionate traditions. In addition to concerts in the New England area, they were the house band for the American Repertory Theater's production of Snow in June in 2003. From 1995-2000, Harlan's group Excelsior played unorthodox arrangements of 20th century composers's works. Their CD, Declassified, was featured on WGBH radio's internationally distributed "Art of the States", WGBH/BBC's "The World", WBUR's "The Connection" and "Here and Now". Harlan was the recipient of a 2001 Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Grant in music composition; he also scored numerous works for film, dance, and theater. In addition, he has played on the soundtracks of Sidney Lumet's A Stranger Among Us, and John Sayles's Lone Star. In 2001, he performed in the orchestra with Luciano Pavarotti at the Fleet Center in Boston, and has been featured in Hovanhess's Rubaiyat and Hindemith's Kammermusik 1. As a conductor of musical theater, he led Snow in June and Shlemeil the First at the American Repertory, and Fiorello at Brandeis University.   The 17th annual NAO Northern Ireland Open Championships took place on February 22nd at the Clarion Hotel, Carrickfergus, Antrim. The organizer was Clyde Johnston (picture right), there was a record 215 entries, and the adjudicators were Ivan Black, Audrey Gillian and Sarah McEvoy. This festival is qualifier for the National Accordion Organisation of the United Kingdom (NAO) Championships, which take place at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool, April 25th to 27th.  ‘Top dancing’, by Mickaël Richard, is new CD release of music for line dancing, such as Viva mariana, reggae musette, kuduro, zimbola, dance the letkiss, and many more. Distribution is by JR Prod and Radio France, and the CD will be available in French record stores. This CD will be reviewed in the April edition of the magazine ‘Accordéon et Accordéonistes’. |

Shaun Keaveny talks about ‘6 Music Festival’, Angus Deayton and Sean Verey chatted about their new series of ‘Pramface’, while music is from Paloma Faith, who performs ‘Can't Rely on You’. | The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending March 3rd 2000 reported that attempts were being made to organize fortnightly meetings for accordionists. This was being done by AIDA, the International Association of Accordionists. Are these meetings still taking place/ AIDA Plans – Argentina Contributed by Florencia Herrera President of Asociación Internacional de Acordeonistas (AIDA - International Association of Accordionists), Julio Erman (alias Gasparin) plans to organize music club meetings on the second Sunday of each month. Professional and amateur accordionists are invited to attend and perform at these meetings. The AIDA currently publish an informative booklet with news of future concerts and events in South America. Their magazine ‘El Acordeón’ unfortunately stopped publication two years ago because of financial reasons, but the association hopes to resume publication of this magazine in the near future. The association currently has about 500 members. |

 Torna ad esibirsi in terra pontina il maestro Marco Lo Russo che sarà il protagonista di due serate, una a Pontinia, venerdì 28 febbraio, l’altra nel capoluogo, sabato 1 marzo, con variazioni musicali diverse e complementari fra loro.Il primo appuntamento è fissato per venerdì 28 febbraio, quando aprirà la prima edizione della Rassegna della nuova musica popolare e d’autore, “Folk a Metà”, kermesse folkloristica, proposta dal Teatro Felini di Pontinia in collaborazione con l'Associazione culturale " Piacere la conoscenza " che, tra febbraio e marzo, prevede quattro appuntamenti, nel corso dei quali si avvicenderanno diversi artisti che omaggeranno la scena musicale del nuovo-folk. La serata di apertura, vedrà protagonista proprio il nostro Lo Russo che, con le sue “ Variazioni colte ed extra colte per fisarmonica”, attraverserà in maniera trasversale i territori della musica popolare e colta. Il concerto proporrà delle composizioni originali che prevedono l'incursione nel linguaggio popolare con rivisitazioni di standard internazionali della canzone italiana e internazionale. Il giorno dopo, sabato 1 marzo, Il maestro Marco Lo Russo sarà poliedrica vibrazione dello spettacolo Al Andalus, in programma al Teatro Moderno di Latina. La pièce è un tentativo di dipingere, attraverso la danza, la possibilità di convivenza di culture diverse: quella spagnola-cristiana, legata al mondo del Flamenco e quella orientale-musulmana, legata alla Danza del Ventre. Il messaggio che "Al-Andalus" vuole lanciare è proprio quello che la convivenza non è impossibile poiché la volontà di unire riesce sempre ad annullare le distanze soprattutto quando si guarda alle culture differenti con uno spirito di curiosità ed ammirazione e non con un atteggiamento di ostilità. Con il Maestro Marco Lo Russo, sul palco del Teatro Moderno di Latina alle 20.30 di Sabato 1 marzo, le compagnie spagnole Oriental Maryem Belly Dancer e Cultura Mediterranea. La direzione artistica è di Francesca Coppetelli. |

 There will be a dinner dance at The Greenhills Hotel, Limerick, on Saturday March 1st, 8pm, to the music of the duo Dessie Hynes and Frankie Scorr (accordion/guitar) and The Indians show band.Dessie Hynes, well known as MD of the band backing Foster & Allen, is one of Ireland’s leading Irish traditional players. The Indians, who feature a diatonic accordionist, have been one of Ireland’s most popular and accomplished show bands since the 1970s. |

 On March 4th, 7.30pm, accordionist Zoltán Orosz performs as part of the the Horvatch Kornel Quartet at the Transformation festival, Palace of Arts, Budapest. The quartet will be performing a program of world music, including the rhythms and melodies of India, the Balkans, Africa and Latin cultures.
