  Il Premio Internazionale della Fisarmonica PIF torna a Castelfidardo per la 46° edizione dal 28 settembre al 2 ottobre. La tradizione di questo prestigioso evento di fisarmonica continua, con diverse novità per il 2021.“Ritrovarsi è un'esigenza molto importante per i musicisti di tutto il mondo” – afferma Antonio Spaccarotella, nuovo Direttore Artistico del PIF – “Per vivere davvero Castelfidardo e riprovare l'emozione dei concerti a contatto con il pubblico, in un clima sereno e atmosfera stimolante, come quella di una famiglia”. Dello stesso parere anche Ruben Cittadini, Assessore alla Cultura di Castelfidardo – Stiamo lavorando con rinnovato impegno all'organizzazione dell'evento live. “L'impegno dell'Amministrazione è quello di promuovere la cultura della fisarmonica, patrimonio della nostra città, sia a livello artistico che produttivo industriale” – spiega il sindaco Roberto Ascani – “un progetto di cui quest'anno siamo particolarmente orgogliosi, dopo i tristi eventi della pandemia che ci ha colpito, sia a livello globale che locale. Giovedì 30 settembre al Teatro Astra si terrà un concerto per gli appassionati di fisarmonica di due famosi fisarmonicisti, Mirco Patarini e Renzo Ruggieri. Sono accompagnati dall'Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria diretta dall'eccezionale Filippo Arlia con un programma di musica emozionante.   Un'orchestra di "100 fisarmoniche in concerto" diretta da Enrico Melozzi e accompagnata dal soprano Estìbaliz Martyn (nella foto a sinistra), si è esibita in concerto all'Arena Sferisterio di Macerata, in Italia, il 27 luglio 2021."Immagina 100 fisarmoniche sul palco, 100 mantici che si aprono insieme e migliaia di ance che suonano all'unisono". L'evento è stato una serata speciale nell'ambito del Macerata Opera Festival svolto in collaborazione con il Premio Internazionale della Fisarmonica PIF Castelfidardo e Pigini Accordions per celebrare il loro 75° anniversario e in occasione del Centenario dello Sferisterio. Foto in alto a destra: Massimo Pigini, Federico Pigini e Francesca Pigini. Il loro programma includeva musiche di Mozart (come "Very Merry" dalla Sinfonia n.40 in sol minore K550, "Ouverture" da The Magic Flute K620 e "Der hölle rache" da The Magic Flute K620) e Ravel (Boléro), così come temi popolari e musica pop (Prelude from Psycho, Lord of the Peaks, A mano a mano e Nikosi Sikelel'iAfrika - “God bless Africa”). Il coordinamento musicale è stato di Massimiliano Pitocco.   Video: Seven Words per violoncello, bayan e archi (Sofia Gubaidulina) eseguita dalla Norwegian Chamber Orchestra diretta da Per Kristian Skalstad, con Geir Draugsvoll.La Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM) di Copenhagen, Danimarca, terrà un festival della fisarmonica dal 1 al 3 ottobre 2021, per celebrare il suo 50° anniversario. L'organizzatore del festival, il professor Geir Draugsvoll (foto in alto a sinistra) afferma: “Il dipartimento di fisarmonica dell'RDAM di Copenaghen è considerato un centro internazionale per la fisarmonica, con studenti provenienti da 9 paesi diversi e molti ospiti dall'estero. È un piacere invitare tutti al 50° anniversario dell'educazione alla fisarmonica alla RDAM! Lo celebriamo organizzando un ambizioso festival di 3 giorni dal 1 al 3 ottobre, in cui diamo un posto alla storia, al presente e, naturalmente, al futuro". Il festival includerà 8 concerti di musica storica, un concerto pedagogico con bambini provenienti da tutta la Danimarca, The Virtuosic Accordion e ritratti di alcuni dei più importanti compositori della fisarmonica. Ciò include una prima mondiale di Sofia Gubaidulina, una prima mondiale di David Lang, la visita dei compositori Martin Lohse e Staffan Mossenmark e molti nuovi meravigliosi pezzi di giovani compositori americani. Gli studenti della Sibelius Academy, della Lithuanian Academy of Musice e dell'Accademia di musica di Oslo sono stati invitati a frequentare e prendere parte alle masterclass del Prof. Geir Draugsvoll, Claudio Jacomucci, Raimondas Sviackevicius, Bjarke Mogensen e Jose Valente. Si esibiranno anche durante il festival insieme agli studenti di RDAM. Tra i concertisti figurano Frode Andersen, Geir Draugsvoll, Bjarke Mogensen, Radu Ratoi, Jostein Stalheim, Sini Ström, Hanzhi Wang e molti altri. Tutti i concerti saranno trasmessi in streaming, comprese le anteprime. Tutti gli eventi si svolgeranno presso la Royal Danish Academy of Music. | Nell'ultimo mese, la pop star cinese Zhang Jie ha pubblicato il suo ultimo album "You Deserve Better" traccia per traccia. La fisarmonicista undicenne Rachael Xu di Chengdu, in Cina, è stata scelta dal cantautore di Singapore Eric Ng, dopo aver visto la sua esibizione vincente al Concorso Internazionale di Musica di Zhongsin, per suonare la fisarmonica in una delle sue composizioni. La invitò ad esibirsi nel quarto singolo pubblicato "Take a Look". A causa delle restrizioni di viaggio del Covid 19, l'audio è stato registrato a Chengdu, con Eric che ha diretto il processo in diretta attraverso riunioni online. La traccia è stata un successo immediato con oltre 3 milioni di ascolti in poco meno di due ore. Rachael Xu, studentessa di Grayson Masefield, è una vincitrice internazionale per la sua fascia d'età e aveva programmato un tour di concerti internazionali nel 2021 (Cina, Singapore, Corea e Giappone) che avrebbe donato tutti i proventi all'International Music Council (IMC), ONG dell'UNESCO. Sfortunatamente il tour è stato rinviato a causa delle restrizioni del Covid 19. Max Fage-Pederson, direttore della radio danese di Copenaghen, ha organizzato un'intervista con Rachael Xu sul suo sostegno all'IMC. Suonerà anche alcune registrazioni di Rachael per il pubblico danese. Rachael è la prima dei 'Titano Youth Artists' che saranno presto annunciati, un progetto di Titano Accordions per aiutare lo sviluppo di giovani fisarmonicisti e aiutarli a coinvolgere il pubblico più giovane per promuovere la fisarmonica, la musica e l'educazione dei giovani. Rachael Xu si è esibita con la sua nuova Titano Infinite Horizon, una fisarmonica completamente personalizzabile, per questo nuovo album da record della pop star Zhang Jie. |

  Ksenija Sidorova si esibirà in un concerto al Festival Internazionale George Enescu nella Sala Radio, Bucarest, Romania il 25 settembre alle 13:30.Dopo il suo concerto di successo di settembre ai BBC Proms (articolo: http://www.accordions.com/news.aspx?d=17-Sep-2021&lang=en#art18025), Ksenija si è poi recata nei Paesi Bassi per esibirsi con Camerata RCO (membri della Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) ad Amsterdam (foto in alto a destra). Il loro programma includeva brani dell'ultimo album di Ksenija "Piazzolla Reflections" e opere originali scritte per fisarmonica da Franck Angelis, Sergey Akhunov e due brani del fisarmonicista e compositore italiano Pietro Roffi, "Nocturne" e una nuova versione di "Is There A Place In Your Heart” per fisarmonica e quintetto d'archi. Nella stessa serata sono stati ospiti di un divertente programma televisivo Podium Witteman su NPO2 Television Channel. La 25a edizione del Festival Internazionale George Enescu è iniziata il 28 agosto e durerà fino al 26 settembre 2021. Ksenija si esibirà in questo festival con la Dogma Chamber Orchestra, diretta da Mikhail Gurewitsch. Il loro programma includerà Sequences per orchestra d'archi (Cornel Taranu), Viva Voce – Concerto No. 2 for Bayan (Efrem Podgaits), In Nomine (Gavin Bryars), Seven Rhymes for Glory (Mikhail Gurewitsch) e When Ingrid met Capa (Michael Nyman). |

| The IX All-Russian Pop Music Competition "Merry Accordion" will take place in Nizhny Novgorod from December 2nd to 5th, 2021. The competition will be held in four categories: Solo performance (for piano & button accordion and for other reed instruments); Ensemble performance; Art of improvisation; Orchestral performance. Solo age groups include: "Debutant" - soloists (up to 10 years old) "A" - Younger (under 12 years old) "B" - Medium (up to 15 years old) "B" - Youth (up to 18 years old) "G" - Concert performers (no age limit). "Ensemble Performance" category is for ensembles of no more than 8 players and must include accordion: "D" 15 years and under) "E" - no age limit "Art of improvisation" - no age restriction "Orchestral Performance" is for Children's orchestras (orchestras of music schools, art schools and palaces of children's creativity), Student orchestras (orchestras of secondary and higher educational institutions) and Professional orchestras. The participation of a button accordion or accordion in the orchestra is mandatory. The competition will be held in two rounds: Round I - qualifying Round II - final The jury will consist of Yuri Brusentsev (Chairman), Gennady Mamaikov, Vitali Dmitriev, Eduard Akhanov and Venedikt Peunov.   The 6th Rising Stars Grand Prix 2021 International Music Competition Berlin was held online this month. The online competition included age group categories for soloists and chamber music duos to sextets, in a variety of instruments including the accordion. Competitors chose a free program of any classical music period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary etc.), as well as folk/traditional music or jazz. Results: 1st Prize: Senior (19 Years and over) – “Gemini Duo” (picture above left) which consists of twins Wanchen Zhao and Wanxu Zhao (China) who are Bachelor students under Professor Geir Draugsvoll at The Royal Danish Academy of Music. 1st Prize: Senior (19 Years and over) – Accordion & Flute Duo of Raphael Brunner (Austria - accordion, picture above right) and Juan Bueno (Colombia - flute). Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, the 2021 Prize Winner Concert, which was due to be held in the Philharmone Berlin, has been postponed to 2022. |

| The International Digital Electronic Accordion Society have rescheduled their Gr8 IDEAS Symposium 4.0 which was due to be held in November this year. The new dates are: January 21st to 30th, 2022. Organisers say that having this extra time for planning will “make sure we don't miss a beat, and that we deliver everything you have come to expect from our Symposium each year. | Video: Folk Trio performing at the 2020 Folk Ratu. “Folk Trio” will entertain at the 3rd “Folk Ratu” Ethnic Festival which will be held at the Varena Cultural Center in Varena, Lithuania on September 28th, 2021 at 6pm. The festival is organized by Etnoprojektai along with the Varena Cultural Center and is supported by the Lithuanian Culture Council. Band members Nerijus Bakula (accordion), Jan Maksimovic (saxophone) and Ineta Meduneckyte (vocals) play a mix of World music, traditional Lithuanian folk songs as well as improvisations of saxophone and accordion masters. | “En Canto” will perform a concert of Forró Music at The Royal Room Outdoor Ave venue in Seattle, Washington on October 1st, 2021 at 8.30pm. “En Canto's sound is fueled primarily by twin accordions and tinged with the jazz backgrounds of several of the musicians. Anchored in the classics and contemporaries of Brazilian Forró, they pay tribute to influences Luiz Gonzaga, Mestrinho, Dominguinhos, Sivuca and many others.” The group features accordionists Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues. | The Datastico e. V. Accordion Orchestra will perform a concert entitled “Accordion Music…” Live Again at the Leohaus Olfen in Olfen, Coesfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on October 2nd, 2021.  Accordionist Jon Hammond will perform at a Bar Mitzvah with Marc Baum (saxophone - pictured left) at the Synagogue in California on October 9th, 2021. The event celebrates the initiation ceremony of a Jewish boy who has reached the age of 13, is regarded as ready to observe religious precepts and is eligible to take part in public worship. Jon and Marc have played together for most of their lives and will perform a variety of Israeli and Jewish pieces at this event. |

 John Kirkpatrick MBE (picture right) will hold an Anglo Concertina Workshop Weekend at The Church Barn, Bishop’s Castle in Shropshire, England from October 15th to 17th, 2021.Attendees will need an Anglo with not less than thirty buttons, ideally in the commonest key combinations of C/G or G/D. Not suitable for beginners. The workshop will cover how to add chords in the left hand, melodies in the right hand and what dizzy tonalities can be found using this approach, traditional English folk music, Morris tunes, Country dance tunes as well as folk tunes and how to accompany them.
