Concerto di Veli Kujala ad Amsterdam - Paesi Bassiby Rob Howard |
 Si aprirà a settembre con il concerto del fisarmonicista finlandese Veli Kujala la settimana musicale Gaudeamus (Gaudeamus Music Week) di Amsterdam . Un nuovo concerto del compositore finlandese Sampo Haapamäki, eseguito da una delle principali orchestre di musica contemporanea olandese (Insomnio), diretta da Ulrich Pöhl. Il concerto intitolato 'Velinikka' è stato realizzato per la Settimana Musicale Gaudeamus e scritto per Veli Kujala, sarà eseguito con un strumento nuovo senza precedenti in grado di produrre mediante una particolare accordatura il (quarto di tono). Lo strumento è una fisarmonica standard da concerto con una particolare funzionalità in grado di produrre il quarto di tono, di conseguenza è in grado di ottenere una particolare scala cromatica che si estende per quasi cinque ottave. Lo strumento fu inventato e disegnato da Veli Kujala e costruito da Pigini Accordions con un appoggio finanziario dalla Fondazione di Wihuri, accordatura di Tapio Peltola. Sampo Haapamäki nato il 1979, è uno dei giovani compositori finlandesi più riusciti e premiati, numerosi sono i premi a lui conferiti per le sue composizioni per esempio, il Gaudeamus Prize nel 2004, ISCM-CASH Young Composer Award nel 2005, e Finnish Teosto Prize nel 2006 Per ulteriori informazioni e-mail: veli.kujala@gmail.com |

 Si è svolto il 70° Anniversario dell’ Associazione di fisarmonicisti americani AAA (American Accordionists' Association) il festival e la Competizione si sono svolti ad Alexandria, VA (DC di Washington) attirando un gran numero di partecipanti giunti non solo dagli Stati Uniti, ma anche da Francia e Cina.Come segue vengono riportati i risultati delle tre competizioni internazionali del festival. AAA Competizione Internazionale - Fisarmonica Piano 1 Premio - $3,500.00: Non Assegnato 2 Premio - $1,000.00: Nie Qian (Cina) 3 Premio - $500.00: Anthony Falco (Stati Uniti) AAA Competizione Internazionale Vivian Vivio Stolaruk - Entertainment 1 Premio - $3,000.00: Jeremie Buirette (Francia) 2 Premio - $1,500.00: Nie Qian (Cina) 3 Premio - $500.00: Anthony Falco (Stati Uniti) AAA Competizione Internazionale Femminile Maddalena Belfiore - Entertainment 1 Premio - $1,000.00: Nie Qian (Cina) 2 Premio - $500.00: Danielle Renzi (Stati Uniti) 3 Premio - $350.00: Sole Liqin (Cina) 4 Premio - $150.00: non assegnato Oltre alla competizione il festival ha riunito molti artisti fra cui i membri del consiglio (AAA) , l’artista Mary Tokarski che fece un concerto con il pianista Dessie Vaughan, l’artista jazz Joe Cerrito, così come il Consiglio (AAA) dei Direttori d’orchestra e l’Orchestra dell' 70° (AAA) Festival. Ospite internazionale l’artista russo Alexander Poeluev, che ha ricevuto numerose ovazioni e al quale fu chiesto anche il bis per il clamoroso spettacolo. Il festival attirò una folta partecipazione anche dalla stampa che promosse l’iniziativa divulgandola su : New York Times , Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The USA Today e Many More.  L’ Associazione Fisarmonicistica Kaunas è una giovane, pertanto ambiziosa, organizzazione che vanta già più di 500 membri fra docenti di fisarmonica e studenti . Nella foto il presidente dell’associazione Grazina Lukosiene (seduta a destra), a sinistra i vice-presidenti: Mindaugas Labanauskas e Birute Ruseniene ed alcuni studenti.Il 4 Agosto i membri dell’associazione suonarono al XIV Festival Internazionale di Palanga (Lituania), il concerto ebbe un grande successo ricevendo notevoli apprezzamenti dal pubblico. Inoltre vi presero parte A.Daucianskas, A.Petraitis, I.Andriukevicius L.Salijus (i docenti G.Lukosiene e B. Rusienene).  Si è svolta a Sauris, una piccola città vicina ad Udine, nelle Dolomiti Il 10° Internazional Music Accordion Camp. I corsi (IMAC), tenuti da Jean-Louis Noton, Mady e Peter Soave, si sono svolti in due periodi settimanali separati, dal 26 luglio al 2 agosto e dal 2 al 9 agosto 2009.Sauris è un piccolo paradiso dove la villeggiatura e la musica legano meravigliosamente, l'albergo che ospita l’ IMAC è un mix di benessere e confort. IMAC dà il benvenuto ai fisarmonicisti ed appassionati di musica di tutto il mondo, di tutti i livelli e stili musicali. L’ IMAC Offrè: masterclass, seminari, conferenze, musica d’insieme e lezioni singole-private, in un sistema professionale dove si apprende stando a contatto con la natura.  Extra chairs were needed to accommodate the larger-than-anticipated crowd that turned out for the 1st annual "Accordions Now!" Festival held on Saturday August 2nd at the Radisson Manchester Hotel, New Hampshire.Intended to highlight the versatility of the accordion, this inaugural event was co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Accordion Association and Accordion Connection LLC of Gilmanton. The action-packed, music-filled day included concerts, workshops, an accordion orchestra, demonstrations, an open jam session, door prizes, vendor displays [Arthur Welch photo], and more. Special guest artist Tony Lovello widely known as “The Liberace of the Accordion," received multiple standing ovations with the audience’s warm enthusiasm extending to the other featured performers: Mary Tokarski, Gary Morin, Nils Lundin, Chad Huval, John Leeman, and the "Accordions Now!" Festival Orchestra, conducted by Donna Maria Regis. The latter, along with Peter Widmark, accompanied Nils Lundin in playing for the Scandi-Dancers’, emceed by Laurie Widmark. During the day, guest accordionists Mary Gail Duffy, Joe Maciejowski [photo], Bob & Anita Siarkowski, Jerry Tramontozzi, and Carmen Vitanza entertained in the public assembly area, where they drew favorable media coverage to the festival.  Bayan player Efim Jourist was the leader of the Jourist Quartett (Mikhail Kibardin – violin, Andreas Hecht – guitar, Johannes Huth - double bass) until his death in 2007. After Jourist died, well-known accordionist Aidar Gaynullin took his position and became soloist with the quartet, which kept its name in the memory of its founder. The repertoire of the ensemble consists of Argentinean tangos of Piazzolla as well as compositions of Jourist and Gaynullin, and the quartet inspires the public with its ‘Russian interpretations’ of concert tangos, played on the highest artistic level. The Jourist quartet appeared at international music festivals such as Rheingau Musik Festival, Beethovenfest Bonn, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Carinthian Summer and Delft Chamber Music Festival. On August 28th and 29th the Jourist Quartet will perform Russian and Argentinean tangos as well as film music by Aidar Gaynullin at the prestigious Schleswig-Holstein Festival in Germany.  Brandon McPhee, from Caithness in the north of Scotland, has just released his first CD: ‘A 'Starr' Is Born’. Brandon plays the 3-row diatonic button accordion, and the CD title pays homage to the memory of the late Will Starr, one of Scotland’s button accordion legends.Brandon, aged 13, already has that 'magic' in his music that captures people’s attention. Under the tuition of his uncle Daniel MacPhee, Brandon has been playing the button key accordion for only just over a year and has made phenomenal progress.  The 18th annual Cotati Accordion Festival takes place on August 23rd and 24th at La Plaza Park, E Cotati Ave and Old Redwood Highway, Cotati, California. The Cotati Accordion Festival is a two-day event of nonstop accordion music to benefit local youth groups. Highlights include concerts, dance parties in the polka tent, Zydeco dancing, numerous accordion-related vendors, and the annual ‘Lady of Spain’ ring, including the releasing of the doves. Dick Contino is the festival’s special guest.  Mie Miki, born in Tokyo in 1956, studied accordion in Germany at the Trossingen Academy of Music. She won the first prizes at the International Accordion Competition, Klingenthal, and since 2000 she has been a Professor at the Detmold College of Music, Dortmund. Mainly setting her activities in Germany, Miki is invited often to many significant international music festivals.2008 marks number 20 in the ‘Mie Miki Accordion Works’ recitals that Mie Miki began performing in the 1980s. The sole standard for the repertoire of these special annual concerts is the music Ms. Miki happens to be most attracted to at the time. The theme of this year’s program is “Dreams, thoughts and horizons,” with works by Mozart, Astor Piazzolla, John Cage, music from the film ‘The Umbrellas of Cherbourg’, and the world premiere of a piece commissioned to world-renowned composer Takashi Yoshimatsu.  Canadian singer, songwriter, poet and novelist Leonard Cohen (picture right), whose work explores themes such as religion, isolation, sexuality, and complex interpersonal relationships, has been an international cult figure since the 1960s.  Les AMIS Ensemble is a group of Canadian-based classical musicians who often perform together as a group and in various combinations. The ensemble performs contemporary as well as traditional chamber music. Their members include accordionist Joseph Macerollo (picture left), Lynn Kuo – violin, Rachel Mercer – cello, Marianna Humetska – piano, The Penderecki String Quartet (Jeremy Bell – violin, Jerzy Kaplanek – violin, Christine Vlajk – violin and Simon Fryer - cello), Dennis Patrick – electronics, and Katarzyna Sadej - mezzo-soprano.
