30° Festival Internazionale di Musica per Fisarmonica, St Petersburg - Russiaby Harley Jones |
 Il 30° Festival Internazionale di Musica per Fisarmonica si svolge dal 2 al 4 novembre presso la Sala Bianca, Via Politekhnicheskaya 29 a soli 300 metri dalla stazione di M. Politekhnicheskaya, St Petersburg. Per ogni festival, Alexander Dmitriev (foto a sinistra) è stato il principale organizzatore e nel 2014 è assistito da Vitaly Pugachev e Maria Romanova. Gli ospiti del festival sono: Alexander Na Yun Kin, popolare compositore e fisarmonicista, le cui composizioni sono incluse nel repertorio di molti fisarmonicisti professionisti. Sentirete opere famose e amate e composizioni recenti. Il duo jazz Italia - Paolo Sabatino (pianoforte) e Renzo Ruggieri (fisarmonica) si esibirà. Renzo è uno dei fisarmonicisti preferiti del pubblico russo, e si esibirà al festival per la terza volta. Il secondo concerto si aprirà con l'ensemble-etalon di ensemble bayan russo - Lipetsk Trio Bayanists. Si esibirà anche il duo Klaus Paier e Asja Valchich (violoncello), un duetto internazionale che unisce l'Austria e la Croazia. Professor Lech Puchnowski (1932-2014), Varsavia - Poloniaby Rob Howard |
 Il professor Wlodzimierz Lech Puchnowski, ampiamente considerato come la figura del padre della fisarmonica moderna in Polonia, è deceduto il 14 ottobre. Nato il 28 Febbraio 1932 a Varsavia, Lech Puchnowski ha studiato pianoforte prima di prendere la fisarmonica. La carriera di insegnante di Lech Puchowski iniziò nel 1954, ed entrò all'Accademia Chopin di Varsavia come insegnante nel 1961. I suoi numerosi coinvolgimenti includono la fondazione della Stowarzyszenia Akordeonistów Polskich (Polish Accordion Association - Presidente 1960-2016); Confederation Internationale des accordéonistes, (Vicepresidente 1963-1989). Nel 1961 ha fondato il Puchowski Varsavia Accordeon Quintet, che ha guidato fino al 1989. Il rinomato Quintetto suonato in oltre 1600 concerti in tutta Europa e in Asia, esibendosi in 25 festival nazionali ed internazionali di musica contemporanea, rilasciando anche sei album e numerose comparse in radio e TV. Il professor Puchnowski ha fatto molte ricerche riguardo l'educazione musicale. Fu autore di libri di musica, libri di testo, tesi di laurea, rapporti scientifici, prefazioni ad altre pubblicazioni, 30 studi di letteratura creativa, musica per fisarmonica solista, band di fisarmonica e formazioni cameristiche. Scrisse anche numerosi articoli pubblicati su riviste nazionali ed internazionali. La Polonia saluta il suo celebre cittadino con un funerale di Stato Mercoledì 22 ottobre a Varsavia. |

 Gran Finale con i vincitori e l’Orchestra filarmonica della Calabria a presenziare durante l’esibizione il Sindaco di Spoleto, Fabrizio CardarelliLa settima edizione di “Strumenti&Musica Festival” si è conclusa con l’emozione propria degli eventi importanti. I giovani artisti hanno condiviso pathos, sorrisi e visi tirati prima dell’esibizione finale. I vincitori dei concorsi internazionali di fisarmonica e pianoforte sono giovani artisti provenienti da ogni parte del mondo: Russia, Brasile, Giappone, Corea, Inghilterra e Italia. Novità di questa edizione è stata l’istituzione del “Premio Menotti”, la cui consegna da parte di Maria Flora Monini ha rappresentato un momento emozionante tanto per gli ospiti presenti, quanto per i giovani artisti che hanno avuto l’occasione di esibirsi a “Casa Menotti”. Per la categoria ensemble ha vinto AEMME, duo composto da Matteo Carbone (Fisarmonica, 14 anni) e Andrea Coruzzi (Arpa, 16 anni), mentre per la categoria Pianoforte è stata la volta di Maxim Kulagin (Russia, 26 anni). “E’ una grande emozione veder suonare in questo luogo giovani musicisti dotati di un così grande talento, come era nello spirito del Maestro Menotti” - ha affermato Maria Flora Monini, Presidente della “Fondazione Monini”. Concludendo: - “I concerti a Casa Menotti sono iniziati quasi per gioco” - “ed è un grande piacere constatare quanto invece questa esperienza sia maturata e dia la possibilità di presentare nuove realtà artistiche locali ed internazionali di altissimo livello”. Domenica sera nel corso della serata finale, i vincitori dei tre prestigiosi concorsi internazionali pianistici “A. Rendano” e “M. Clementi” e di Fisarmonica “Strumenti&Musica”, hanno tenuto un concerto che ha mostrato tutto il loro talento. Accompagnati dall’Orchestra Filarmonica della Calabria, composta da 50 elementi e magistralemente diretta dal M° Filippo Arlia, si sono eseguiti i più bei pezzi del panorama classico e contemporaneo. Ha condotto la serata la serata Antonella Fabrizio insieme al Direttore Artistico Mirco Patarini. Ad aprire l’esibizione finale è stato lo stesso M° Patarini con l’emozionante esecuzione di due brani di Astor Piazzolla: “Oblivion” e “Adios nonino”. Per la fisarmonica si sono succeduti sul palco Duo AEMME, Andrea Coruzzi e Matteo Carbone i quali hanno suonato un brano scritto dallo stesso Coruzzi, "Tango para mi hermana", Sergej Aksenov (Russia) con "Funny sheep" del compositore Bazhilin, Daniele Carabetta con “Tango Italiano” di Renzo Ruggeri, Mahatma Costa (Brasile) ha suonato “Got a match” di Chick Corea, Michele Toppo con “Boite a rhythm di Franck Angelis. Durante lo spettacolo è interventuto il Sindaco di Spoleto, Fabrizio Cardarelli, il cui intervento ha ribadito l’importanza che riveste questo Festival per la città di Spoleto, da sempre caratterizzata da tradizione artistica e culturale, commentando: “ho constatato personalmente seguendo i concerti l’alto livello dei concorrenti e dei giovani musicisti che vi prendono parte, e mi sento di ringraziare l’Associazione organizzatrice, Italian Accordion Culture, per il lavoro che svolge con impegno e passione”. La serata è proseguita con le esibizioni della sezione pianoforte che ha visto salire sul palco Sofia Proietti (giovane pianista spoletina), con “Fantasia Improvvisa” di Friederich Chopin, a seguire Kristina Sirotenko con “Joke" del compositore Shidrin, Yu Mi Hyang (Corea) ha suonato “Ondine” di Maurice Ravel, Maxim Kulagin (Russia) con " La Valse" di Maurice Ravel, Nico Fuscaldo, ha eseguito "Rapsodia in blue" di George Gershwin. A concludere il Concerto, Valeria Lachman (Russia) con il primo movimento del "Concerto n.3” di Ludwig van Beethoven. Nel corso del concerto, Gianluca Bibiani, presidente della IAC, il M° Mirco Patarini, Direttore artistico di “Strumenti&Musica Festival” e il M° Filippo Arlia, Direttore Artistico della sezione Pianoforte, hanno tenuto a ringraziare il Consorzio della Bonificazione Umbra, che ha messo a disposizione gratuitamente palazzo Leti Sansi, la Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto, la Banca Popolare di Spoleto e la Fondazione Luigi Valentina e Francesca Antonini, Antonelli San Marco, il Comune di Spoleto, il Sindaco Fabrizio Cardarelli, per aver presenziato al concerto finale, la Regione dell’Umbria e la Provincia di Perugia. Si è proseguito poi con il ringraziare “Casa Menotti”, il Comune di Castel Ritaldi, il Museo internazionale della Fisarmonica, gli Sponsor tecnici, i media partner e la stampa locale, che hanno seguito costantemente l’evento. |

 La Accordion Pops Orchestra, diretta da Al Terzo, presenterà un concerto commemorativo a Carmen Carrozza Domenica 2 Novembre alle 14:00, presso la Hunterdon Hills Playhouse, 88 Route 173 West Hampton, New Jersey. Tra gli artisti presenti abbiamo il fisarmonicista Håvard Svensrud (foto a sinistra), il virtuoso flautista Andrea Maurer, Lou Coppola e gli Stereo Strings. Il fisarmonicista norvegese Håvard Svensrud sarà un performer ospite. Håvard si è affermato come artista professionista sia di musica classica che di animazione tradizionale, esibendosi spesso alla radio e alla TV, come solista e come musicista in gruppo. Ha contribuito, e rilasciato, diverse registrazioni. In più occasioni ha anche suonato con diverse orchestre, tra cui la Stavanger Symphony Orchestra e Forsvarets Musikkorps.  Il Paris Moscou Duo - Roman Jbanov e Domi Emorine - si esibirà la prossima settimana, 20-24 ottobre, presso il Mundesley Accordion Festival a Norfolk, Inghilterra.Roman Jbanov e Domi Emorine hanno entrambi vinto numerosi concorsi internazionali di fisarmonica come artisti solisti, e si sono esibiti in duo dal 1997 a festival, concerti e masterclass in molti paesi. Le loro performance di alto calibro includono musica classica e leggera russa e francese, dal periodo barocco fino ad oggi, compresa la musica che è stata trascritta o appositamente scritta per la fisarmonica.  Brandon McPhee last week won the Open Accordion section at the Royal National Mod, held in Inverness, for the third year in a row. His competition pieces were ‘Miss Elspeth Campbell’, ‘Dr Mackay of Halkirk’ and the Clumsy Lover.The Royal National Mod, founded in Oban in 1891, is an annual Gaelic language cultural festival that provides opportunities for people of all ages to perform across a range of competitive disciplines including Gaelic Music and Song, Highland Dancing, Instrumental, Drama, Sport and Literature. Shand Morino player Brandon, still a teenager and from Wick in the Higlands, has won numerous accordion competitions in Scotland, has three CDs and a DVD to his credit, and is an in demand performer at concerts, dances, clubs and festivals. He also sings and plays the guitar. |

 Shelia Lee, teacher and owner of Houston Accordion Performers in Houston, Texas, has created an accordion blog containing technique drills, ear training, a monthly lesson, practice tips and accordion arrangements from level 1 to 5 based on the Palmer Hughes lesson books. Arrangements for solo, duet, and trio from 1960s and 70s will be included each month.Shelia Lee, attended the 2014 International Accordion Convention in Las Vegas where she conducted two workshops and the enthusiastic response received inspired her to create the blog. Playing the accordion since she was five years old, Shelia studied with Bill Palmer and was a member of the Palmer and Hughes Accordion Symphony. Currently she performs as soloist or with bands in the Houston/Galveston area and also teaches keyboard and button accordion trough Heritage Arts Production, a non-profit organization. Many songs are included in the October upload including ‘Let It Go’, ‘Here Comes the Sun’, ‘My Girl’, ‘My Boyfriend's Back’, plus Oktoberfest and Christmas songs.  Iosif Purits has recently started his post-graduate diploma course at the Royal Academy of Music in London after winning many international competitions and completing his studies under Friedrich Lips in Moscow at the Ginessin School of Music. On October 7th he made his debut concert in the RAM’s Henry Wood Room where he played a varied program that very impressed the audience. The audience enthusiastically applauded and Purits performed an encore. Iosif Purits joins a number of very successful accordionists who have studied at the RAM Accordion Department in spite of the costs of studying in London and from there, launch successful professional careers. |

  Sonja Palinich is an accordionist and teacher, and is the President of the New Zealand Accordion Association. Sonja Palinich BA LLB is also a lawyer, specialising in family law. She is an Auckland Central representative for the Family Law Section of the New Zealand Law Society. The Law Society publication ran a very nice article about her interest in the accordion which has just been published. NewLaw.pdf Sonja Palinich also holds the ATDNZ (Accordion Teachers' Diploma of New Zealand), and AIRMT (Associate of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers for Accordion and Music Theory). |

| The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending October 20th 2000 included an article reporting on the 300 accordions owned in Ontario, Canada, by Raymond Laforest. There are nowadays several large private collections around the world, and one of the largest is owned by Ken Hopkins in Northern Ireland, which currently numbers just over 1000 instruments, including many antique and rare accordions dating all the way back to the early years of the 19th Century. The sheer variety of accordion designs, past and recent, inspired the books ‘Vintage Accordions’ and ‘Accordion: A Pictorial History’, written by Accordions Worldwide News Editor Rob Howard. Accordion Collection – Canada Accordionist Raymond Laforest has what he believes is the largest collection of accordions in Canada with over 300 hundred in his Ontario house. Raymond, who started collecting 20 years ago, advertises in the paper for instruments, some of which he uses for spare parts. The oldest instrument in the collection was made in 1862. Raymond believes the largest collection in the world may be held by French accordionist Jeannot Perret who has over 800 instruments. |

 The Pigini Music Days take place from October 22nd to 25th at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Arnhem, led by Professor Rik Cornelissen. Activities include ‘Play along with the ArtEZ Accordion Big Band’, various workshops and master classes, and a concert in the Walloon Church in Arnhem.  A concert, styled the ‘3rd Raduno Nazionale’ (3rd National Gathering), takes place in Seren del Grappa, Italy, on Sunday October 19th, 9pm, involving accordionists Walter Losi, Tiziano Chiapelli, Romeo Aichino, Breda Gubler, and Andrea Morandini. There will also be an exhibition of accordions.Seren del Grappa is a commune in the province of Belluno in the Italian region of Veneto, located about 70 kilometres northwest of Venice and about 35 kilometres southwest of Belluno. |

 Accordionist Marco Lo Russo returns to Cuba and will perform a solo recital at Antigua Iglesia de San Francisco de Paula, Havana, on October 20th, 7pm, as part of a Cuban cultural festival. On October 26th at the Teatro Las Coralinas, Havana, Marco Lo Russo will accompany the choreography of the dance company Retazos, directed by Isabel Bustos.  Belorussian accordionist Natalya Chesnova performs in concerts on November 6th and 7th, 9pm, at Suseong Artpia, Daegu, South Korea. She will also hold master classes at this venue on these days, 10am until 12pm. Natalya Chesnova, now based in Milan, Italy, graduated from the Minsk Conservatory, Belorus, in 2004. She then worked as an accordion teacher in Minsk and as an accompanist for choreographers and dance teachers. Natalya was a member of the ensemble ‘Novyi Gorod’, who in 2001 obtained 3rd place in the competition ‘Golden Accordion’ in New York, 1st place at the International Competition in Castelfidardo, and performed dozens of concerts in all the states of the former Soviet Union, Poland, Germany and Italy, and played in many broadcasts on radio and TV in Belarus.
