1° Festival della Fisarmonica di Lanzo, Torino – Italiaby Christine Johnstone |

 Il 1° Festival della Fisarmonica di Lanzo si terrà a Lanzo Torinese, Torino, Italia il 28 e 29 agosto 2021, presentato dall'Associazione MusicaeArtisti in collaborazione con il Comune di Lanzo Torinese e la Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo.Gli organizzatori prevedono che questo evento, interamente dedicato alla fisarmonica, diventerà un festival annuale. Poiché il 2021 è l'anno delle celebrazioni del centenario della nascita del grande Astor Piazzolla, Massimo Signorini (foto a sinistra) si esibirà in occasione della presentazione del libro “La vita e la musica di Astor Piazzolla” degli autori Maria Susana Azzi e Simon Collier. L'evento prevede anche una mostra per i costruttori di fisarmoniche che operano in Piemonte mettendo la loro esperienza e competenza a disposizione dei concertisti, nonché delle aziende specializzate nella costruzione e riparatori della fisarmonica. |

 Il 2022 German Music Competition si terrà a Bonn dal 7 al 19 marzo 2022, organizzato dal German Music Council.Il concorso sarà per una grande varietà di strumenti, tra cui la fisarmonica. Il German Music Competition è un concorso nazionale per giovani musicisti professionisti in Germania. Possono partecipare musicisti con una formazione professionale (studi musicali iniziati o completati), che hanno la cittadinanza tedesca. Festival della fisarmonica di Kramfors – Sveziaby Jörgen Sundeqvist |

 Sundeqvist Musik e Kramfors Dragspelsklubb hanno organizzato un grande festival della fisarmonica a Kramfors il 7 e 8 agosto 2021.Durante il festival Sundeqvist Musik ha presentato una mostra di fisarmoniche insieme a Karlssons Musik, che comprendeva circa 60 fisarmoniche nuove e usate, borse, cinghie, microfoni, spartiti ecc. Oltre 500 visitatori hanno partecipato all'evento e hanno goduto di una varietà di musica per fisarmonica in tutte le forme, nonché della mostra. Molti famosi fisarmonicisti si sono esibiti durante la giornata, tra cui Jörgen Sundeqvist, Päivi Mettälä, Lars Karlsson, Leo Florin, Bröderna Lindkvist e altri. L’ospite d'eccezione è stato il Presidente della CIA e Presidente di Scandalli Accordions, Mirco Patarini di Castelfidardo, Italia. Mirco ha fatto un regalo speciale da Castelfidardo allo straordinario Archivio della Fisarmonica qui a Kramfors. Il regalo (foto in alto a sinistra) era una fisarmonica speciale fatta di legno con un orologio all'interno del mantice. Il festival si è concluso domenica sera con un concerto presso la chiesa Gudmundrå di Kramfors con esibizioni di Mirco Patarini, Jörgen Sundeqvist, Päivi Mettälä, Lars Karlsson e Leo Florin. Il festival è stato un enorme successo e gli organizzatori hanno in programma di ripeterlo l'anno prossimo. |

| Le iscrizioni degli artisti sono ora aperte per l'annuale Fairbridge Festival, che si tiene a Marmion, Perth dal 22 al 24 aprile 2022, presentato da Folkworld Inc. Il festival include una vasta selezione di spettacoli musicali, arte, danza, laboratori e un programma per i giovani. Gli organizzatori incoraggiano anche conferenze, artisti di strada, artisti circensi, attività di benessere, spettacoli di danza ecc. Le iscrizioni scadono il 27 settembre 2021. La donazione inaspettata di Alain Papineau al museo A World of Accordions - USAby Harley Jones |

| Il museo World of Accordions Museum è orgoglioso di annunciare la ricezione dell'antica collezione di fisarmoniche di Alain Papineau composta da 350 degli strumenti più rari e belli del secolo successivo al primo brevetto di Cyril Demian (1829). Questa donazione, aggiunta ai 1.400 aerofoni ad ancia libera attualmente esposti al piano principale del museo e ai 750 in riserva all'Harrington ARTS Center, afferma l'istituto Superior, Wisconsin, come il più grande e completo al mondo. Circa 70 delle nuove acquisizioni sono temporaneamente esposte nell'area “Mostre Speciali” della sala concerti, visionabile su appuntamento. Questa spettacolare acquisizione inaspettata ha una storia decennale. In un incontro del 1997, il curatore del museo Helmi Strahl Harrington, Ph.D., ha incontrato l'appassionato di fisarmonica Alain Papineau (architetto della Banca Mondiale) e ha visto la sua collezione di Washington D.C.. Un quarto di secolo dopo, Papineau offrì ad Harrington i doni delle sue ricerche per tutta la vita, la maggior parte delle quali non sono descritte nei riferimenti organologici. Insieme alle fisarmoniche e alle concertine c'erano 90 scatole di musica e materiali di riferimento di supporto che integreranno notevolmente i libri e le librerie di registrazioni del museo. Questo è solo l'ultimo grande contributo alle risorse del museo che include anche numerosi lasciti di musicisti. |

| The Louise Jallu Quartet entertained at the Crest Jazz Festival in Crest, South Eastern France on August 7th, 2021. The quartet includes Louise Jallu (bandoneon), Mathias Lévy (violin), Grégoire Letouvet (piano) and Alexandre Perrot (double bass). The event included a monumental chandelier that emerges from behind the stage in the slowness of a sensitive tango. On its branches, musicians from “Trance Express” swayed above the audience (see picture above). Both groups performed an original program, between “Heaven and Earth” which included aerial prowess and the concert. |

 Accordionist Ladislav Horák performed in duo with Petr Nouzovský (cello) at a Gala concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Argentine composer, Astor Piazzolla on August 11th. The duo performed works from their CD "Vivat Tango", which features Libertango, Oblivion, Ave Maria, S.V.P. Finale and others. The event was held at the J.K. Tyla Theater in Trebon, Czech Republic and also featured Martina Kociánová (vocals and presentations). |

  Despite the fact that preparations for the 2021 Avsenik Festival (one of the biggest events of the year in Begunje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia), were in full swing, organisers have regrettably announced that the festival is postponed until next year: August 26th to 28th, 2022.This is due to the uncertain situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.   Organisers of the 2021 International Trieste Tango Festival regret to announce that once again they must cancel their event, due to be held in Trieste, Italy next month. The 2020 festival was also cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic and now it has happened again this year.The 2022 event is planned for September next year. | Video: Alex Meixner performs Burgettstown Polka, a tune originally composed and performed by Stan Blout on his "Polka Sounds of the 70s" album on Delta International Records. It has been a popular Button Box polka amongst American Slovenian musicians, as it's included in the widely distributed "Playing the Button Box Accordion Slovenian Style Book 1 by Al Jevsevar". Alex’s version is influenced by the arrangement Steve Meisner recorded on his landmark "Jammin' Polkas" album in 1988. |

 Video: “Teapot in the Tuba” 2021 performance at the Burnaby Village Museum in Burnaby, British Columbia. “Teapot in the Tuba” will entertain at MacLean Park in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on August 14th, 2021 from 3pm. | The Daniele Falasca Septet will perform at the Abruzzo Live Festival on 16th August, 2021 at 6pm. This will be an outdoor concert at Cascata dei tre ponti (Three Bridges Waterfall) in Cagnano Amiterno, L’Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy, organised by the Comune di Cagnano Amiterno. The group includes Daniele Falasca (accordion), Arturo Valiante (piano), Gianluca Caporale (sax and clarinet), Martin Diaz (guitar), Marcello Manuli (bass), Glauco Di Sabatino (drums) and Bruno Marcozzi (percussion). Their musical program includes jazz, Latin jazz, be bop, modern tango, gypsy rhythms, samba and salsa flavors. It is recommended that attendees bring a mat or towel to sit on the lawn.  Video: Flogging Molly playing “Life Is Good”“Flogging Molly” have announced their upcoming tour of the USA with the “Violent Femmes” and special guests “Me First and The Gimme Gimmes” and “Thick”. The tour begins on September 3rd in Maryland and will finish on October 23rd in Minneapolis. “Flogging Molly” is a seven piece Celtic punk band, which includes Matt Hensley (accordion, concertina, vocals).  Ian Lowthian (picture right) will run an online Mixed Instruments Music Weekend on September 11th and 12th, 2021.Ian says “I think we all need some silliness just now, so I've put together some tunes to make you smile”. The focus will be on “Happy, Jolly, Cheery, Zany Tunes!” such as 'The Happy One-Step', 'The Entry of the Gladiators' as well as some old favourites. The 2021, 30th annual Cotati Accordion Festival will take place on September 25th and 26th this year in La Plaza Park, Cotati, California, USA. This year's theme was to celebrate the 30th Annual milestone by riding the wave of the new "Roaring 20's". However, because of the stress and suffering so many have had to endure the last two years, organisers have decided to focus on "bringing joy back to our lives". The festival will include 2 days of music, dancing, food, beer, wine and fun from 9.30am to 8pm on 7 stages, both days. | A play entitled “Accordions” will take place on the stage of the Theater in the South-West, Moscow on October 3rd, 2021. Duration - 1 hour 40 minutes. The play features a mixture of all kinds of musical compositions, from waltz to quadrille (a dance that was fashionable in the late 18th and 19th century in Europe).
