| The Santa Maria Accordion Band (MD Marthese Busutill Cassar L.B.C.A.) performed at the Springfest 2013 festival at Rabat, close to the Nigret Church, on May 6th, celebrating World Accordion Day. | Aleksandar Kolovski performed with the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra in the Cycle of "Laureates" on the 11th April. Conductor: Andreas Weiser (Germany) Soloist: Aleksandar Kolovski (accordion) Program: Risto Avramovski (Macedonia): “Harmosin” –The expelled byzantine Richard Galliano:" Opale Concerto" concerto foraccordion and orchestra Ottorino Respighi (Macedonia): Pini di Roma Kolovski (b.1990) currently studies at the Skopje-based Faculty of Music Arts and regularly attends master courses in France. He has won a number of international accordion competitions. |

 The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending May 14th 1999 included two items about separate accordion concerts in Japan. One of the items concerned the still very active Mika Väyrynen, from Finland. Accordions Worldwide would like to know what accordion events are taking place in 2013 in Japan. Is somebody able to tell us?Väyrynen at Sell Out Concert – Japan Finnish accordionist Mika Väyrynen is currently touring Japan until May 20th. He performed on May 14th in the Musashino Hall in Tokyo. This concert has been sold out since January this year. Other performances include the Studio Runde in Nagoya on the 16th and the Phoenix Hall in Osaka on the 18th. These venues are famous and respected halls where many famous musicians have performed. Benefit Concert – Japan Contributed by Toru Katou On May 22nd the annual ‘Noboru Emori's Accordion Class Presentation’ will be held at the Kagaku-Gijutsu Hall, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo at 4pm. The following day an annual benefit concert ‘Accordion and Music in Hiroshima’ will be held at the Hiroshima City East Ward Culture Center Hall, Higashi-Ward, Hiroshima at 1.30pm. This is one of the biggest accordion events in the Chugoku-Shikoku-Area. Admission is free with voluntary contributions to the relief fund of Hiroshima City accepted. Accordion bands including ‘Hiroshima Tango Ensemble’, ‘Hideo Katahara’, and ‘Ensemble Musette’ will perform with singers and dancers. The organizer is Mr Katahara (Accordion Masters Association). |

| Nasce un nuovo sodalizio musicale fra il Maestro Marco Lo Russo ed il Tenore Jonathan Cilia Faro, che li vedrà impegnati anche in questo intenso week end. Il compositore, fisarmonicista nostrano ed il compositore, tenore ed artista internazionale siciliano, il prossimo venerdì 10 maggio, alle ore 20.00, saranno a Torre del Greco, in provincia di Napoli, presso la Comunità Vera Grazia. I due artisti si cimenteranno in un concerto di “Voce di versi” con il quale racconteranno, con musica e parole, le storie dei nostri giorni. I due artisti danno così il via al loro mini tour, che li vedrà protagonisti, in alcuni dei centri giovanili più frequentati del sud Italia, saranno, infatti, Sabato 11 Maggio alle 20 presso il Centro Cristiano di Gallico in provincia di Reggio Calabria e domenica 12 maggio, la mattina alle 10 in quel Messina e nel pomeriggio alle 18 in provincia di Catania, dove il tour si chiuderà con l’incontro con i giovani del Centro Cristiano di Paternò. I concerti rappresentano l’occasione per incontrare le nuove generazione e portare loro un messaggio di speranza e positività, invitando ciascuno a riflettere, in maniera intima e gioiosa, sull’importanza della condivisione, dell’umiltà, della fratellanza oltre che sulla sofferenza, il coraggio e la voglia di riscatto. Sempre Sabato 11 maggio, alle 10, il Maestro Marco Lo Russo ed il Tenore Jonathan Cilia Faro, saranno, a Napoli presso il Castello di Sant’Elmo, fra gli ospiti d’onore del Premio Nazionale di Poesia, Narrativa, Arti Figurative e Musica Albatros 2013, giunto all’undicesima edizione. Nel frattempo a Londra, stanno ultimando, con il produttore Matteo Cifelli, il loro prossimo lavoro discografico che dovrebbe uscire tra pochi mesi. |

| The Kilfenora Ceili Band play for a ceili, 3pm, to 6pm, on Sunday May 12th, at the Cos Cos Festival in Rathcormack, County Sligo. Founded in County Clare in 1909, the Kilfenora are Ireland’s longest established ceili band.  On Friday May 17th, 6pm, leading Hungarian accordionist Zoltan Orosz accompanied by guitarist Zoltan Balogh, performs at the Kossuth Movie Theater, Mohács.Zoltan Orosz studied the accordion and the organ in Budapest, and at the age of 13, entered the Klingenthal International Accordion Competition in Germany. He has since become a virtuoso performer, with an international repertoire and appeal, and with several CDs to his credit. The concert on May 17th presents music from his latest recording. | The 6th annual Accordions Now! Festival, co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Accordion Association and Accordion Connection LLC, takes place from August 9th to 11th at the Courtyard Nashua, 2200 Southwood Drive, Nashua, NH 03063. The guest line-up includes accordionists Tony Lovello, Joe Cerrito, Brent Buswell, Paul Bordeleau, Nancy Leonard, Dan Mackowiak, Paul Ramunni, Donna Maria Regis, Carmen Vitanza, Gerry Grimo and the East Bay Jazz Ensemble, and from Norway, Gamle Aker Spelemannslag, and 15-year-old Norwegian competition winner Einar Thokle Hovden. One of festival’s regular features is the Accordions Now! Festival Orchestra – would be participants should sign up by July 12th. Other features include the Open Mike Cabaret, Night Owls Jam and pick-up sessions. Music is available in advance for the Just-for-Fun Play-Along.
