  Il segretario generale della Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) Kimmo Mattila scrive: "La CIA si congratula con l'ospite della Coupe Mondiale 2022, il membro della CIA accordeon.ch per aver attirato 83 iscrizioni da 23 paesi per la 75a Coupe Mondiale a Zofingen, dal 4 al 9 ottobre 2022".Anche se stiamo assistendo a una guerra devastante in Ucraina e il Covid continua a causare problemi, questa seconda "Coupe Mondiale dal vivo" con giuria e partecipanti è chiaramente molto popolare tra insegnanti e concorrenti. Inoltre, la CIA ha ricevuto 60 iscrizioni di delegati da 29 membri nazionali per il Congresso Internazionale della CIA con molti delegati che hanno partecipato anche come giuria per i Campionati Mondiali di Fisarmonica Coupe Mondiale. Il Presidente della CIA Mirco Patarini scrive: "Siamo molto felici di avere un numero così elevato di concorrenti, delegati e membri della giuria presenti per la 75a Coupe Mondiale. Avremo un grande evento con musica vera in una situazione dal vivo. La musica è un'Arte che è "qui, e ora", non c'è niente di più emozionante per l'artista e il pubblico di un concerto in una bellissima sala!"  Le iscrizioni per l'8ª Giornata Internazionale della Fisarmonica che si terrà a Praga, Repubblica Ceca, si concluderanno il prossimo 23 settembre 2022.L'evento si terrà nella Sala del Museo delle Arti Applicate, Praga, dal 27 al 30 ottobre 2022 e prevede un concerto di apertura con ospiti internazionali, concorsi, un concerto di gala, orchestre e un concerto finale con i vincitori. La giuria del concorso sarà composta dal Presidente: Mirco Patarini (Italia – Presidente della CIA), Stefan Hippe, Andreas Nebl (DE), Jörgen Sundeqvist (SE), Ladislav Horák, Josef Hrebík, Markéta Laštovicková, Pavel Trojan e Petr Vacek (CZ).  The 2022 Dean Martin Prize was awarded to accordionist Danilo Di Paolonicola (pictured below at the award ceremony) in Vasto, Italy this week.Danilo is the creator of the Orchestra Popolare del Saltarello project which was born from an operation of research and revaluation of the musical tradition of Abruzzo. The Dean Martin prize was given in recognition of his work with the orchestra. |

| Video: Music clips from Zamar “Zamar” celebrated Spring with a concert entitled “Dis Zamar Lekker” at the Drostdy Theatre in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, South Africa on Sptember 9th, 2022. The group features Monika Stuchlik Kahl (accordion & vocals), Veronica Bell (violin & vocals), Philip Vermeulen (guitar), Warren Joubert (bass) and Ronald Siegelaar (drums). Their name “Zamar” means “to celebrate with the plucking of strings”. Their program included popular light classical music, Hungarian rhapsodies, Ukrainian folk melodies, South American tangos, Irish folk music, traditional African songs and contemporary classics. |

| An accordion exhibition entitled “Making the Accordion Great Again” by Liberty Bellows is currently on display at Philadelphia International Airport, between Terminal A East and B. The exhibition, which includes 40 accordions, will run until the end of December 2022. The Airport’s Exhibitions Program is a nationally-recognized, award-winning visual arts initiative which began in 1998. The exhibits change throughout the year to provide a variety of educational and cultural programs. This forum for presenting visual arts attests to the Airport's commitment to supporting arts and culture. The Exhibitions Program provides millions of visitors from around the world access to a wide variety of art forms by artists and arts institutions from the Philadelphia area. |

  Video 1: A reel of concert and interview clips with the trumpet / accordion duo.Video 2: “Redbud Winter” -- Eric Vloeimans, trumpet & Will Holshouser, composer and accordionist. “Redbud Winter”: a cold snap in early spring when the redbud trees begin to blossom (expression used in Tennessee). In memoriam Cynthia Shoemaker (1939 - 2021). This piece was commissioned by the American Accordionists' Association (2021), and premiered at the AAA Seminars of Dr. William Schimmel, Curator - on July 30, 2021. Accordionist/composer Will Holshouser and Eric Vloeimans (trumpet) are touring USA and Canada this month to celebrate the release of their new CD, “Two for the Road” via Bandcamp. “Two for the Road was recorded during a live concert tour of the Netherlands in 2021, during a window in the pandemic when musicians and audiences could finally come together.  Rik Cornelissen will run an Improvisation Workshop at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem, Netherlands on September 24th from 11am to 3pm.
