(American Accordionists' Association - AAA) si terranno al Marriott Philadelphia West di Conshohocken, PA, dal 12 al 16 luglio 2023. Celebrazioni dei 100 anni di Erling Grönstedt - Sveziaby Christine Johnstone |

  Foto a destra: Erling Grönstedt scattata nel 1937, quando aveva 14 anni. È stato campione svedese juniores. Questa fisarmonica è nella collezione del Museo Kramfors insieme ad altri oggetti donati dalla famiglia Grönstedt.I festeggiamenti "Erling Grönstedt 100 anni" si terranno a Kramfors, in Svezia, il 28 e 29 luglio 2023 organizzati da Jörgen Sundeqvist. Erling Grönstedt (1923-2012), suo fratello Karl Grönstedt (1912-1983) e i membri del quartetto Hans-Erik Nääs (1910-1984) e Andrew Walter (1914-1978) sono tutti cresciuti nello stesso piccolo villaggio ed erano fisarmonicisti molto conosciuti e rispettati. Tutti e quattro sono stati ispirati dai fisarmonicisti italo-americani Pietro Frosini, Pietro e Guido Deiro, Anthony Galla-Rini e Charles Magnante. Hanno sviluppato il loro stile musicale e il loro modo di suonare la fisarmonica, che li ha resi unici e famosi. Hanno inventato qualcosa di nuovo e un modo più moderno di suonare e scrivere musica. Erling Grönstedt è stato anche il primo insegnante di fisarmonica in Svezia e ha introdotto la fisarmonica classica come strumento serio nelle scuole di musica. Molti fisarmonicisti famosi in Svezia sono stati studenti di Erling Grönstedt. Come molti altri fisarmonicisti dell'epoca, anche Erling Grönstedt si trasferì a Stoccolma, ma dopo il suo ritiro, Erling tornò alle sue radici e visse i suoi ultimi 25 anni a Kramfors e Ådalen. | La London Accordion Orchestra (LAO) terrà un concerto congiunto con la Bavarian State Youth Accordion Orchestra (diretta da Stefan Hippe) presso la chiesa di San Gabriele a Pimlico, Londra, Inghilterra, Regno Unito il prossimo 3 settembre 2023 dalle 14:30 alle 16:30. Questo concerto fa parte di una serie intitolata "Bellows Across Borders". In programma musiche di Astor Piazzolla, Márquez (Danzon n. 2), un nuovo brano del direttore del LAO Ian Watson, la famosa "Pomp and Circumstance" di Elgar, musiche di Händel e Tchaikovsky, oltre a opere originali per orchestra di fisarmoniche.  The Illinois State Music Teachers Association honoured Amy Jo Sawyer with the Foundation Fellow Award for 2023 for making a “significant and substantial impact on the lives of others through music and service”.She received the award at the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Conference held in Reno, Nevada, USA earlier this year. Amy Jo Sawyer has devoted much of her musical career to the accordion. Her concertizing, composing, arranging, and administrative activities, currently President of the Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG), have enhanced recognition of the accordion as a concert and popular/jazz instrument. Amy Jo has written music for, and performed with, the University of Missouri at Kansas City Accordion Orchestra, under the direction of Joan Sommers, on four international tours. She has performed with the Sacramento and St. Louis Symphonies, including accompanying tenor Luciano Pavarotti. |

 Accordionist Francisco Martins, bachelor student in Music at ESART - Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas IPCB, won the Ex-Aquo Award at the 5th National Contemporary Interpretation Competition on July 1st, 2023.Francisco, student of the accordion class of teacher Paulo Jorge Ferreira competed in the category of "Higher Education" of the competition, which took place at the António Lopes Gallery, in Covilhã, Castelo Branco, Portugal. |

 The 3rd International Accordion Festival Accordiomania 2023 organized by the Accordiomania Art Association and Panayot Pipkov National University was held in Pleven, Bulgaria from June 29th to July 2nd, 2023. Teachers and musicians from Germany, Spain, Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina took part. Results: Classics Category: 1st - Victor Georgiev (Grade 5) and Denislav Banev (Grade 10) I Solo Category: 1st - Iskren Todorov II Solo Category: 1st - Jolanda Otto III Solo Category: 1st - Todor Mijajlovic IV I Solo Category: 1st - Catalin Gusevatîi V Solo Category: 1st - Theodore Marinov VI Variety Category: 1st - Bozhidar Karzhin VIII Chamber Music Category: 1st - Duo Silver tone (Jolanda Otto, Timea Krahl) IX Chamber Music Category: Accordiomania Ensemble (Denislav Banev, Stanislav Neshkov, Maya Todorova, Stanislav Murdzhev, Ivaylo Georgiev) The event also included masterclasses with Raimondas Sviackevicius (Lithuania) and Radu Ratoi (Moldova - picture above left), who also was a member of the jury, presented two workshops and a solo concert. |

 Mary Ann Covone, Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG)President was featured in the Sigma Alpha Iota quarterly journal Pan Pipes. The article tells about Mary Ann’s journey with the accordion, beginning with a historical review of the popular “heyday” of the accordion in the 1940-1970’s, her decision to attend University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music to study accordion performance with Joan Cochran Sommers, returning to accordion after a 30-year career as an attorney, and then becoming president of the ATG.The article also gives an excellent short story of the history of the ATG, the recent and coming festival, the value of the ATG syllabus, and the establishing of her Chicagoland Accordion Academy. The Pan Pipes journal was distributed to just under 10,000 professional musicians, professors, teachers and music students in colleges and universities. | “Foleada”, which includes accordionists Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues, will perform at the annual Festa Junina, held at Om Culture in Seattle, Washington, USA on July 8th, 2023 from 5pm. Festa Junina celebrates the harvest season in Brazil. Dancing is an important part of the celebrations and is centered around the quadrilha, a typical Festa Junina dance accompanied by live Forró music by Foleada, with DJ Tomás “spinning great music during band breaks”. Attendees can expect Brazilian Square Dancing, Xaxado performance (full costume) by Bahia in-Motion, fun games for children and much more. Children 12 and under are free of charge. Un bellissimo arrangiamento jazz per fisarmonica free-bass di Joseph Natoli, registrato nell'ottobre 2018 presso la Bartell Music Academy di Spokane, USA.Il festival Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG) 2023 si terrà dal 19 al 23 luglio 2023 a Lisle, Chicago, USA, Gli artisti in cartellone provengono da tutto il mondo, come Grayson Masefield dalla Nuova Zelanda, che presenterà in anteprima l'ultima composizione di Gorka Hermosa (foto a sinistra) intitolata "Meditatio". Tra gli altri artisti figurano il Duo Kollektiv (Austria), l'Orchestra Polyphonia (Isola della Riunione), Nikolay Bine (Canada), Stas Venglevski (USA) e il Community Accordion Chamber Ensemble (UMKC), diretto da Joan Sommers (USA). Quest'anno Kevin Friedrich sarà affiancato dall'organista Tony Payne (professore associato di musica, direttore dei programmi speciali e delle Artist Series del Wheaton College), da Ron Dake (fisarmonica basso) e da Nathaniel Holman (percussioni) nell'esecuzione di un'opera intitolata "Dargaville Impressions" del noto fisarmonicista e compositore inglese Ian Watson. L'opera in due movimenti è stata commissionata da Kevin Friedrich in onore della ristrutturazione dell'organo storico della Holy Trinity Anglican Church della sua città natale, Dargaville, in Nuova Zelanda.   "Meet the Musician Behind the Sound" è una nuova serie di interviste con giovani fisarmonicisti emergenti per conoscerli meglio. I Collaboratori che hanno condotto le interviste sono Adele Pirozzolo e Andrea Di Giacomo.L'intervista a Romuald Lefebvre è ora pubblicata a cura di Andrea Di Giacomo. Romuald Lefebvre si è esibito con l'Orchestra Filarmonica di Radio France nel 2017. Insegna anche al Conservatorio di Calais e Boulogne-Sur-Mer. Interessato allo sviluppo della fisarmonica, fu uno dei fondatori dell'Association des Professeurs de Haut de France. Ha registrato 2 album da solista, "Eclectique" nel 2013 e "Toccata" nel 2014.
