WELCOME TO THE MILWAUKEE
ACCORDION CLUB WEBSITE!
The Milwaukee Accordion Club was founded in March 1991 and current membership approximates 300. Our Mission is to stimulate a positive attitude toward the performance of music on the accordion by strengthening relationships with fellow musicians, expanding knowledge of the accordion and accordion playing, and by developing various musical programs to acquaint the general public with the education and entertainment values ofthe accordion.
Monthly meetings are generally held (generally on the fourth Monday of the month) at the Root River Center in Franklin, WI. A typical evening consists of Pre-meeting Music provided by accordionists from within our membership; a Young-Artist Performance presented by an accordion student; and the Featured Program - which over the years has included performances by many national and international accordion artists. The genre of music runs the gamut from classical to jazz - with a mix of ethnic, polkas, big band, Cajun, country, etc. - something for everyone! .
The organization has its own performing accordion ensemble and on-going workshops to assist members improve their musical knowledge and skills. Through its newsletter, The Accordion Express, information is disseminated about the association's activities, those of other accordion clubs, festivals, conventions and competitions, accordion music releases, etc. on a local, national, and international scale. Yearly dues are $24.00. Individuals living outside Wisconsin can subscribe to the newsletter for $15.00 per year.
Whether you live in Wisconsin, or are
just passing through, we invite you to stop at one of our monthly meetings.
We'd enjoy hearing from you. Thank you for visiting the Milwaukee Accordion
Club website. We encourage you to join us in support of the accordion
and accordion music. Shirl Barry, President |
