IT’S MAC MEMBERS’ TURN TO SHINE
MAC Members will be in the spotlight on Monday, January 25, 2010 when they take the stage for OPEN MIC NIGHT. This is not a contest. This is MAC Members’ turn to ‘strut their stuff’ and entertain. All styles and levels of playing are encouraged.
There will be a slight change in the schedule that evening. First the short business meeting will be conducted at 6:30 PM. OPEN MIC begins at 7:00 PM and continues through the evening.

Featured Program: Valentine’s Day Dance with music by ‘Gunter’s Good Times’
The dance floor will be cleared of chairs, and we will be dancing (and listening) to the music of ‘Gunter’s Good Times’ comprised of father and son, Gunter and Tony Langeweg, each on concertina, and our own MAC Board Member John Kreiter on drums.
There will be a slight change in the schedule that evening. First the short business meeting will be conducted at 6:30 PM. Dance music begins at 7:00 PM and continues until 9:30 PM.

Featured Program: LEAHY'S LUCK
Leahy's Luck have been performing Irish folk music for nineteen years, playing at festivals and performing arts centers throughout the Midwest. Their five albums reflect an evolution of scope and sophistication. The band originated with brothers Tom and Brian Leahy and their five children.
All but one of the children emancipated starting careers in all corners of the United States. Today, musicians Randal Harrison (violin) and Stas Venglevski (accordion) have joined the brothers and Tom’s son Evan to produce lively, widely accessible world music.

Featured Program: SKIP WAGNER
Skip Wagner has been in the entertainment business for over 50 years. His musical talent is astounding!! Skip is probably best known for playing TWO TRUMPETS AT ONE TIME....IN HARMONY!! The performance will be comprised of a variety of music, vocals and comedy. Accompanying Skip in his performance at Root River will be Scott Koehn on accordion and Jim Scheppele, keyboard. Pictured right is Skip doing his popular skit, "The Lone Ranger".

Featured Program: Kenny Brandt Band with Jimmy Monsen
We’ll be ‘tappin’ our toes’ and ‘kickin’ up our heels’ to a variety of music presented by the popular Kenny Brandt Band. This local band includes Kenny on saxophone, Tony Sabo on accordion and Joe Grilli, drums. To add an extra ‘kick’ to the evening will be Jimmy Monsen on concertina. Both Kenny and Jimmy, along with their exceptionally accomplished sidemen, are valuable contributors to the polka/variety arena.
Be sure to bring your dancin’ shoes along. The dance floor will be open.

Featured Program: Tony Lovello
Often called the ‘Liberace of the Accordion’ because of his exciting showmanship and humor, Tony Lovello puts out a fun-fest, well-paced accordion spectacular. Also, coined as the ‘King and Master of the Bellows Shake’ by Maestro Anthony Galla-Rini, he has received 5 Lifetime Achievement Awards. Tony possesses the star quality of a Master Accordionist. Tony Lovello is certainly a crowd pleaser. You won’t want to miss this master in concert. It will be an unforgettable experience, not to mention, lots of fun.

A 'July JammaRamma' to escape the 'Dog Days of Summer' Jerry will lead a jam of any instrumentalists who want to join in. Many of the songs will be pre-announced and there will be some tactical explanations. The invitation will be for anyone/everyone to play along.

Featured Program: ‘OKTOBERFEST’ with PEGGY MUELLER
September and October is the time for ‘Oktoberfest’. And that is exactly what Peggy Mueller will present for us. Known primarily for her German / Swill / Austrian ‘old country’ styles, Peggy will entertain us with an ‘Oktoberfest’ Program. Not only is Peggy a regular performer at Milwaukee’s German Fest, she has entertained throughout the United States and internationally, including Germany and Austria.
Hansi Mueller, Peggy’s husband and a first generation Bavarian, will be joining her in this performance. Hansi plays wooden spoons (Loffelschlagen) which were hand carved in Austria.

Featured Program: MARIO PEDONE
The MAC feels honored to be hosting the phenomenal talent of Mario Pedone. Mario has his own recording studio in Sugar Land, Texas, where he has arranged and recorded hundreds of tunes, including many of his own compositions.
He will entertain us with many styles of music, including, but not limited to, classical, Latin, polkas, blues, European and American standards. Mario has won numerous championships with both the accordion and the organ.

Featured Program: Dan ‘Daddy Squeeze’ Newton
Dan ‘Daddy Squeeze’ Newton has been dazzling audiences with his vast repertoire and creative accordion style for over 25 years. He is a talented composer/arranger who has produced over a dozen recordings. Dan has appeared at international accordion festivals, as well as Lincoln Center in New York City, Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and The Winnipeg Folk Festival, to only mention a few.
Dan will be performing solo accordion and vocals. His great variety in styles of music will include French musette, swing, Finnish tango, Cajun, blues and some of his own originals. Daddy Squeeze also enjoys mixing up styles and genres that don't generally seem compatible. "Music out of context", or "Ethno-clectic Bop" is the result of his gender-bending experiments with Celtic, Tex-Mex, Creole, Blues, Jazz, Scandinavian, Polka and pop music. He has used the squeeze box for playing all kinds of music not normally associated with free-reed instruments, as well as standard accordion material.
