Il
fisarmonicista Mauro Carra è in visita in GB per un breve tour
in Gennaio 2006 che viene organizzato da Romano Viazzani. Mauro
Carra ha iniziato a suonare la fisarmonica all'età di 9 anni
con i maestri Piero Barbieri e Learco Gianferrari. Per Mauro gli artisti
Bruno Aragosti, Paolo Gandolfi, Renato Benelli, Gigi Stok, Carlo Venturi,
Frédéric
Deschamps, Renzo
Ruggeri e Richard Galliano sono stati fondamentali per trovare
il suo stile.
Finora
Mauro Carra ha inciso 5 CD e sta attualmente preparando il suo quinto
progetto. Ha partecipato con tanto successo in molti concorsi sia
nazionali che internazionali. L'ha visto partecipe in vari eventi
come la Settimana di Fisarmonica a Stradella in Italia nel 2000, al
Accordino Festival in Wembley, come solista in un BBC Concerto, in
un concerto con l'orchestra sinfonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna
dove ha interpretato la colonna sonora dei films di Charlie Chaplin,
etc.
I suoi appuntamenti l'hanno portato in Francia, Inghilterra, Spagna,
Germania e per Gennaio sono previsti I seguenti appuntamenti in Gran

Il
3 Novembre il fisarmonicista americano Peter
Soave si è esibito in un recital nella Concert Hall del
Hanoi Conservatorio. Il suo programma proponeva musiche di Astor Piazzola
ed alcune delle sue composizioni d'improvvisazioni.
Peter Soave, che ha suonato sia il both bayan che il bandoneon,
ha impressionato il pubblico di Hanoi con il suo stile raffinato per
la musica, il suo virtuosismo, ma soprattutto per la sua bravura tecnica.

del dipartimento di fisarmonica del Conservatorio di Hanoi
Deceduta
Pamela Deakin, Birmingham - GB
L'insegnante
Pamela Deakin è deceduta a fine Novembre all'età di
69 anni dopo una grande battaglia contro il cancro. Pamela
Deakin,di Warley, Staffordshire, è stata un delle più
grandi fisarmoniciste fine anni 50 in Inghilterra che ha vinto 3 campionati
del concorso "All-Britain Championships".
Ha studiato
la fisarmonica sotto la guida di George Clay. Dopo soltanto poco tempo
di studi ha vinto I prestigiosi premi di campionessa nazionale "All-Britain
Amateur Championship nel 1953 e nel 1954. In 1955 Pamela è
riuscita a raggiungere l'ottavo posto nel CIACoupe Mondiale,
tenutosi in Brighton. La sua più grande vittoria è stata
nel 1956 quando ha vinto il titolo del "All-Britain Virtuoso
Champion". Dopo la sua carriera competitiva Pamela Deakin si
è dedicata come insegnante popolare nelle Midlands
Alexander
Sklyarov in Concerto in Astana - Kazakhstan
Il
23 Novembre si è svolto, con il "People's Artist of Russia"
e Alexander Sklyarov, un brillante concerto nella capitale Kazakhistan,
Astana nella nuova sede, inaugurata di recente, Organ Hall dell'Accademia
di Musica. Nel suo programma musica di I.Muffat, B.Bend, E.Derbenko,
V.Chernikov e Alexander Timoshenko. Alexander Sklyarov ha proposto
inoltre '3 trascrizioni di brani russi tradizionali di Alexander Timoshenko
in memoria del compositore.
Durante la giornata si sono svolti masterclass con I studenti dell'accademia.
Tanti musicisti sono venuti da lontano per sentire le performance
d'Alexander e molte critiche positive sono state fatte sulla sua eccezionale
tecnica e potente dinamismo

Canelo Concert Tour, Mexico City - Mexico Accordionist
Salomòn Cinnamon has completed a tour of Mexico, performing
concerts in Atargea, Villagrand, Acàmbaro, Irapuato, Comonfort,
Pènjamo, San Josè Iturbide, San Diego de la Uniòn,
San Felipe, Doctor Mora, Tierra Blanca, Dolores Hidalgo and Victoria.
The tour was organised by the Government's Institute of Culture.

Karen Street was the All Britain Virtuoso Champion in 1982 and 1983,
and a competitor in the 1984 CIACoupe Mondiale
held in Folkestone, England. She later performed on saxophone as a
member of the all female quartet the Fairer Sax, and now has returned
to the accordion, both as a player and a composer. In the near future
she is to record as a duo with accordionist Tony Compton.
Wartime
Singalongs, Stockport - UK Accordionists
Rob
Howard and John Jones lead singalongs of World War Two songs at
the Stockport Air Raid Shelters on December 5th, 8th and 15th, from
8.15pm. These shows are at the end of guided tours of the underground
shelters where in 1940 and 1941, up to 7,000 people spent the nights
to escape bombing raids. Accordionists were a regular and welcome
form of entertainment in the shelters, and the present day shows are
also proving popular with the public.
On
December 8th, diatonic button accordionist Joe Whelan, banjo player
Liam Farrell, and pianist Reg Hall will perform Irish music and songs
at the The Royal Oak Folk Club, Lewes, East Sussex. On January 5th,
button accordionist John Kirkpatrick will be the guest at the same
venue.

Accordion Orchestra Charity Concert, Macclesfield - UK

Stockport Accordion Orchestra, directed by Brian Jenkins, perform
at Henbury and Broken Cross Institute, Macclesfield on December 9th,
at 8pm. Proceeds from the concert are donated to the East Cheshire
Hospice.

Lunchtime Concert, London - UK On December 13th there will be a free lunchtime concert presented
by Accordions at Morley, from 1.05pm, at Morley College (close to
London's Waterloo Station).
Jimmy
Shand Memorial Concert, Fife - UK

The
annual Jimmy Shand Memorial Concert takes place on January 29th, from
1.30 to 5pm, at St Andrew's Town Hall, Fife, Scotland. This popular
event involves at least 26 guest accordionists, and all the music
performed is either composed by Sir Jimmy Shand, or has been recorded
by him. The concert will end with all the players in an ensemble,
playing 'The Bluebell Polka', 'Whistling Rufus', The Six Twenty Two
Step', and other numbers made famous by Jimmy Shand and his Band.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to Chas (a charity for
terminally ill children) and Rymonth House, which caters for people
with learning disabilities.
Sir Jimmy Shand (1908-2001), the only accordionist to date to receive
a Knighthood by HM Queen Elizabeth, was a highly prolific recording
artiste and composer, with a career that lasted over sixty years.
His influence on Scottish music and dancing was profound, inspiring
countless numbers of people to play and listen to accordions. In recent
years, many Shand recordings have been issued on digitally remastered
CDs, including material that covers the 1930s until recent times.
